Purpose of the Job

The material planner is in charge of defining and controlling adequate inventory level of materials in order to fulfill Customer requirements while minimizing cash immobilization. Additionally, the Material Planner will have the responsibility to ensure the availability of the material using our MRP system (SAP) to minimize the impacts taking in account the constraints of our suppliers, transportation and storage.

Main Responsibilities
  • Capture Customer Demand and place purchase order at the right time in our ERP
  • Analyse the missing pieces, define the root causes and put in place the necessary action plans
  • Make sure that the latest delivery information is available in the ERP in order to be able to share the information correctly.
  • Align the logistics specifications defined with the suppliers and the existing rules of the supply chain: ABC classification, logistics flow, target stock, lot size, delivery frequency, dynamic safety stock ...
  • Working closely with procurement and logistics teams to ensure materials are delivered to the right location, in the right condition at the right time
  • Resolve receiving issues, track missing parts and ensure non-conformities replacement
  • Daily meeting with the managers, to review the status of the missing materials
  • Leadership and coordination to anticipate the missing parts and to analyse the root causes for them
  • Coordination with the team internal Alstom and suppliers in case of emergency not forecasted – revision change, part broken, part lost,…..
  • Creation and follow-up of material master data (MRP type, MRP controller, MRP parameters)
  • Ensure the payment of the supplier on Time (resolve and validate invoices)
  • Adopt the Ways of Working (WOW) / Behaviours in your day to day working, as per ALSTOM Guidelines and Alstom values "Agile, Responsible and Inclusive”

Educational Requirements / Desired Knowledge / Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Operations, Supply chain, Engineering or related Business degree
  • 2-4 years of working experience in Supply Chain management roles
  • Good knowledge of railway products

Technical Skills & Competencies
  • Excellent knowledge in Excel and other Office applications
  • Experience in Supply Chain, Material Planning in the Industrial sector
  • Languages: Fluent in German
  • English: shall be able to use professional English on a daily basis for speaking (phone-Skype),reading and writing purposes. French and/ or Italian : intermediate level would be much appreciated.
  • ERP experience on SAP module MM (articles configuration, Purchase orders management)
