Optotune is a growing and internationally active optics company based in Dietikon, Switzerland. We develop, manufacture and market the latest generation of adaptive optical elements for industrial and consumer markets.Your goal is to grow Optotune’s consumer business, may that be by scaling up our core markets, finding new applications for existing products or developing new markets.
The RnD product development team tackles the challenges in design and assembly of novel liquid lens and prism prototypes. Together with you, we bring the next generations of innovative optical products from the idea to production.
As the RnD product development engineer simulations, you are responsible for the theoretical modelling of our liquid lens and liquid prism products as well as electromechanical actuators. You support the product design with feasibility analysis and parameter sweeps of new prototypes.
Tasks
- Develop and optimize component and subsystem models of tunable optical components to optimize the system performance of new products targeted for high volume manufacturing
- 2D and 3D simulations of tunable optical components with respect to static properties (force, stress) and dynamical properties (response time, shock)
- Design and realization of electromechanical voice coil actuators
- Design of electrical circuits and coils in printed circuit boards (PCBs)
- Carry out experimental feasibility studies including root cause analysis, tolerancing analysis, and troubleshooting of errors
- Support of the product design and customer support with FEM feasibility studies and parameter sweeps
- Collaboration and reporting in multidisciplinary project teams
- MSc degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, physics, or equivalent
- Experience in modeling mechanical systems from first principles
- Experience in multibody dynamics modeling and analysis of solids, elastic materials, liquids, and electric fields or similar is required (preferentially in Comsol)
- Knowledge in Python, PLC, Matlab, Altium, SolidWorks Simulations is a plus
- Broad technical understanding in optics and mechanical engineering
- Proficient in reading/interpreting engineering drawings and geometric dimensioning
- Open-minded for challenging ideas in dynamic environments with changing priorities
- Quick thinker, creative, persistent, and empathic
- Proficiency in English, German is an advantage
