Johnson & Johnson announced plans to separate our Consumer Health business to create a new publicly traded company. The process of the planned separation is anticipated to be completed within 24 months, and it will be subject to legal requirements including consultation with works councils and other employee representative bodies, as required, and other customary conditions and approvals.      

 It is anticipated that, following conclusion of the transaction, this position may be conveyed with New Consumer Health. In that case, details of any planned changes would be provided to the successful candidate by New Consumer Health at an appropriate time and would be subject to any necessary consultation processes.

Job Description:  

The Director of Energy and Sustainability is accountable for collaborating with Facilities Management Strategic Service partners in each region to identify and deploy programs to optimize, enhance and mature the new regional Partnership agreements driving innovation, service quality and enhanced customer experience.

This role is responsible for Global Energy conservation and sustainability programs, globally energy related spend, supporting the E&PS Acquisitions & Divestitures function with the coordination of all FM Acquisition and Divestitures programs and collaborating with FM’s Strategic Service partners in each region to identify and deploy CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and Innovation programs.

A suitable candidate for this role will have global experience in facilities management across multiple geographies and business segments, ability to effectively partner and deliver results in a matrixed environment, strong negotiation, influencing and relationship building skills without direct line authority, strong eye for business, financial and performance management experience.

Key relationships include FM COE leaders and senior leaders across the Regional FM organizations, E&PS functional teams, internal/external enabling functions and service partners.

Key Responsibilities

General
  • Be a member of the Global Facilities Management Leadership team providing leadership, business knowledge, technical FM expertise and supplier insights

Global Energy Efficiency & Sustainability programs
  • Collaborate with EHS&S Environmental leadership to input, influence and align on environmental and sustainability strategies
  • Identify global energy programs to meet CO2 reduction commitments, including energy efficiency and renewable energy. Work with Engineering & Design (E&D) to integrate into standard design platforms
  • Secure expense budgets to deliver on strategies for energy technology pilots, PPA RFPs, feasibility studies and GAP assessments
  • Be the FM Lead on the Global Energy & Conservation Committee. Collaborate between service providers, regional operations teams, EHS, sector engineering and E&PS functions
  • Assign SPOC with Sectors/Make leadership, EPS leadership and Finance leadership on energy efficiency and usage reduction
  • Build relationships and in collaboration with Business Operations and FM governance report on goals & status
  • Prioritize requests from customers/partners
  • Own FM Energy related policies, standards, guidelines including hedging exceptions, execution of CO2/water and waste conservation funding mechanisms
  • Share ownership of the Energy Procurement Services contract with regional operations teams, providing Global governance and oversight in shaping strategies
  • Own the supplier relationship for the energy procurement service provider and the Global energy procurement processes
  • In collaboration with the regional operations teams own the procurement of standard “Brown power Energy” contracts
  • Provide global governance and oversight for global Energy, Water and Waste KPI’s dashboards and metrics
  • Responsible for progress reporting on C02, water and waste reduction projects/initiatives to EH&S, business functions, Finance and Global FM leadership
  • In partnership with E&PS Asset Management, Engineering and design standard design platforms owners, regional operations teams and our strategic partners shape, plan and deploy sustainability and conservation programs. Responsible direct for monitoring, training programs and equipment performance data. In collaboration with EH&S, FM and regional Change and Comms develop and deploy effective communication, employee engagement, change management and “Behavior-Based” Energy Awareness programs.
  • Ensure global energy tenders (including electricity, natural gas, renewable energy, etc) do not violate any Worldwide Procedures or ensure that they have received an exception to the policy.

FM Corporate Social Responsibility
  • Collaborate with Global Corporate Citizenship group, business leaders, Procurement and regional suppliers to develop, deploy and sustain a program plan for CSR activity:
  • Identify programs that can be co-created and deployed across multiple sites in each region
  • Maintain a CSR performance framework for measurement and tracking of Social impact spend, food waste, café plastics, community engagement and employee engagement.
  • Maintain a central repository for data gathering, dashboards, metrics and reporting

FM Innovation Roadmap
  • Be the FM Innovation Lead and DRI for the Global Facilities Management innovation framework
  • Establish and maintain an FM Innovation Roadmap collaborating with E&PS Regional leadership, COE leadership, service partners, business operations, and other workstreams providing leadership, oversight and reporting for FM Innovation
  • Collaborate and coordinate between Workstream leads to ensure alignment across workstreams, initiatives and outcomes to support FM Global strategies
  • Ensure all initiatives follow the governance and change control processes to remain consistent and aligned with FM process taxonomies
  • Collaborate with each regional strategic service partner to Map a pipeline of "Supplier led innovation" initiatives
  • Establish framework to identify and deploy a “Regional Roadmap” for each strategic service partner including "test and learn" programs, Pilot sites, key technologies and innovative processes for adoption
  • Collaborate with each Regional Service partner on investments, financing/funding models and ensure approvals, governance, reporting and change control aligns with Global Innovation governance processes

Qualifications

Position Requirements:
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering
  • Strong negotiations and influencing skills without direct line authority is required;
  • strong eye for business and relationship building skills
  • Ability to effectively partner and deliver results in a matrixed environment
  • Experience in facility management, financial, and performance management
  • Global experience is preferred, particularly across multiple geographies
  • Experience leading large-scale projects

Preferred Requirements/Competencies
  • Familiarity with FDA, GMP and ISO requirements within the facilities environment
  • MS or MBA
  • Six Sigma Black Belt or Green Belt
