The position is located within the Exploratory Neuroscience Section in the Neuroscience and Rare Disease (NRD) Discovery team at Roche in Basel.Job MissionIn multiple neural diseases including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), as well frontotemporal dementia (FTD) and common diseases such as Alzheimer’s, RNA processing has major impact on neurodegenerative diseases. We are looking for a highly motivated Discovery Scientist to focus on studying disease RNA processing and the roles that RNA binding proteins play in disease. The position is aimed to increase expertise and research towards RNA biology and neurodegeneration including modeling RNA-binding protein dynamics (RBP), splicing, and linking to cell functions associated with neurodegeneration (eg. axonal degeneration, hyper excitability) by developing novel cellular models. The scientist will collaborate with multidisciplinary project teams focused on therapeutics and will work with research associates.Your Profile
  • PhD or MD/PhD in neuroscience, cellular biology and biochemistry
  • Expertise in RNA biochemistry including studying RNA-protein interactions and splicing
  • Expertise in iPSC technology, and CRISPR genome editing to develop, utilize and characterize hPSC disease models
  • Experience with advanced in vitro-culture techniques using other cell types
  • Proven scientific-track record through impactful publications in relevant fields including RNA biology in both PhD and postdoc
