Job Purpose and Impact

The Trading Data and Analytics (TDA) team is focused on bringing innovation, global integration, and cross-organization collaboration to Cargill’s trading data and analytics landscape. The team seeks to tap into the potential of Cargill’s vast data supply, applying new models and globally-integrated perspectives to generate strategic insights that will promote Cargill’s competitive position and ultimately grow trading earnings.

As an Energy Commodity Analyst, you will be responsible for conducting trading analytics efforts for crude oil and petroleum products. This includes analysis of fundamentals and other economic considerations, development and deployment of models, tools and processes to equip our teams to make trading, risk management, margin enhancement and asset utilization decisions.

Build up a backbone of structured data and analytics processes, working in close collaboration with commercial, analysts and data and technology teams.

Provide key oil and product market insights for commercial and trading teams as well as other parts of Cargill.

Key Accountabilities
  • Develop, enhance, and execute tools, models, and processes to manage data and analysis flow from various sources.
  • Track, forecast and describe price, supply and demand, relative value, and global trends of oil and petroleum products.
  • Effectively communicate timely, accurate, and actionable insights to trading team, analytics teams, and key customers as defined by the business.
  • Collaborate and support other analysts and TDA team members as needed to deliver best analysis that maximizes business competitive advantage.
  • Support energy initiatives for TDA engine room (tech and data) and broader TDA initiatives in conjunction with stakeholders.
  • Provide thought leadership for new data, technology, tools, and innovation.
  • Independently solve moderately complex issues with minimal supervision, while escalating more complex issues to appropriate staff.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Energy Economics, Business, Finance or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve and execute solutions under tight timelines
  • Analytical reasoning and the ability to quickly take disparate information and derive accurate insights
  • Understanding of economics and experience with commodity supply and demand fundamentals
  • Knowledge of trading business and risk management and an understanding of what information adds value
  • Ability to actively collaborate with global teams to build consensus around trading strategy
  • Minimum of two years of related work experience
  • Other minimum qualifications may apply


Preferred Qualifications
  • Engineering background or Master’s degree in Economics, Business, Finance, or related field.
  • Proficiency in modeling, coding, data science, and big data management - preferably at advanced level
  • Good interpersonal, communication and teamworking skills; ability and willingness to work across time zones and cultures
