About The Team

The Global (Re)Insurance Accounting & Reporting P&C team in Group Finance has global ownership of P&C sub-ledger related accounting and closing activities covering all valuation bases (i.e. US GAAP, IFRS 17, EVM and Statutory). In addition to the sub-ledger responsibilities, the team is also responsible for ensuring financial reporting quality and consistency for all accounting bases.

We are a high-performing team with varied strengths of ca. 50 team members primarily located in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich. We work in a friendly, collaborative and lively team environment.

About The Role

As our Graduate and future accounting professional joining our team in Zurich you will have the opportunity to learn about Swiss Re’s P&C business and develop your expertise in various accounting bases, i.e. US GAAP, Swiss Statutory and especially IFRS covering both IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. Furthermore, you will interact in a broad network of Reinsurance functions across various divisions involved in the financial closing process.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the IFRS, US GAAP and Swiss Statutory quarterly closing and reporting process for the reinsurance P&C business, ensuring timely preparation of high-quality deliverables
  • Perform accounting and reporting entries in various financial systems
  • Ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of sub-ledger data
  • Interpret and analyze quarterly financial results providing business insights and explanations to relevant partners
  • Act as contact for any process or control related inquiries for different valuations and for different partners, including internal and external audit

About You

We are looking for YOU- University graduate with degree in economics, finance, accounting or a quantitative field. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and high attention to detail. Who is also fluent in English.

Essentials

  • Relevant professional experience with Finance or Accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, CA, ACCA, CFA) preferred
  • Strong curiosity about/motivation to work in Reinsurance Accounting and Reporting
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Approaches problems with curiosity and open-mindedness and is a fast learner
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Culture sensitive – ability to work with a multidisciplinary team across locations
  • Team spirit – great teammate with a can-do attitude

  • Self-motivated – able to work independently with a high degree of autonomy
  • Innovative, showing a high degree of own initiative, takes accountability.
