The Senior Manager Technical Accounting role is a valued and trusted partner to senior stakeholders within Finance, the LG Shared Service Centre (SSC), Business Control and wider business units to ensure accounting outputs from LG SSC accurately reflects commercial agreements, identifying and proactively managing risks and opportunities.

This role is a direct report to the Head of IFRS Accounting & Reporting, and works closely with Senior Director Accounting & Reporting as well as the wider Finance team and business unit colleagues throughout the Sunrise-UPC and Liberty Global Group.

Main responsibilities include being the lead within the accounting and reporting function of Sunrise-UPC Switzerland. Delivering a technical support and review layer between the SSC, senior stakeholders and the wider business; as a result responsible for the following deliverables:

• Developing and managing robust accounting and reporting tools, to ensure smooth operations as well as US GAAP and IFRS audit compliance; coach the Liberty Global shared service center (SSC) Accounting & Reporting teams in this regard.
• Confirmation and documentation of final accounting position for non-routine/judgmental material items (such as refinancing transactions, stock-based compensation, pensions, goodwill, M&A transactions etc.)
• Capex Accounting policy guidance and training to finance and operational project teams
• Preparing the statutory financial statements according to Swiss Code of Obligations (SCO) and reconciliation from IFRS to local GAAP
• Managing and supporting the implementation of new accounting standards and reporting initiatives
• Driving process changes and improvements throughout the accounting and reporting function
• Acting as Finance SPOC for various projects and implementations (e.g. Software Replacement, Set-Up of new legal entity, new product offerings, change requests)
• Managing the internal controls and SOX framework in the accounting & reporting department
• Managing external and internal auditors

What we look for in an applicant:

• Qualified accountant (Swiss CPA, US CPA, Chartered Accountant or similar qualification)
• Several years of practical experience in financial group accounting of a national/international group, in auditing or in a similar position
• Profound knowledge in IFRS and/or US-GAAP reporting standards
• Profound SAP knowledge
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience within a SOX environment is a plus
• Fits into ambitious, result-driven, down-to-earth culture
• Proactive and self-reliant/ independent self-starter
• Capable of communicating at all levels
• Has an opinion and expresses it
• Ability to cope with high pressure assignments and used to meeting strict deadlines whilst maintaining accuracy
• Completed university or technical college studies with a focus on accounting or similar (finance, economics)
• Fluent in English (written and spoken)
