Global Safety Lab Specialist M/W

Your next role ?

As a Global Safety Lab Specialist, you will be the Deputy of the Global Safety Lab Manager and you will join our team in Vernier. Your main responsability is to assist the Global Safety Lab Manager for the Safety tests results interpretation, related calculation and communication. You will provide expertise knowledge and advice on chemical process Safety to internal customers. You will plan and carry out reaction calorimetry measurements to determine thermal safety data for Givaudan’s chemical reactions. You will evaluate and interpret the data collected from these tests, allowing correct risk assessments to be made.

In this exciting role you will :

  • Support the Global Safety Laboratory manager for ensuring top class methodologies and techniques to evaluate chemical hazards of submitted cases ;
  • Assist the EHS CoE Global Safety lab Manager for the Safety tests results interpretation and communication ;
  • Provide expertise knowledge and advice on chemical process Safety to internal customers ;
  • Follow any procedures or quality instructions relevant to the role ;
  • Plan and carry out reaction calorimetry measurements to determine thermal safety data for Givaudan’s chemical reactions ;
  • Carry out the necessary calculations for the evaluation of process safety, storage and the transportation of dangerous goods ;
  • Evaluate and interpret the data collected from these tests, allowing correct risk assessments to be made ;
  • Write the scientific reports related to these measurements including criticality class of the reaction systems and recommendations for safety process ;
  • When appropriate, provide theoretical assessment of heat of reactions using calculations (heat of formation) or mass balance of an existing reactor system.

Your success profile includes :

  • University degree in chemistry / chemical engineering or equivalent ;
  • 2+ years of experience in the area of Chemical Process Safety ;
  • Fluent in English and French, other language is a plus ;
  • Technical background in the area of Chemical Process Safety, Chemical Engineering and organic chemistry ;
  • Understands internal/external factors affecting Givaudan and its customers and industry benchmarks for safety, quality, performance, and reliability on the CoE subject matter ;
  • Determine the request tests according to internal policies (standard, guidelines) ;
  • Provide expertise and recommendation for safer processes ;
  • Decision quality, innovation management and customer focus.
