We are looking for a Head of Engineering & Maintenance Biologics in Visp.

Job Description

Overall management of all activities in the area of plant engineering and maintenance in multiple plants of the Biologics site covering different technologies. Leads a team of supervisors, senior engineers and specialists in the respective areas. Is accountable for the performance and results of the assigned area including cost control. Is a member of the Engineering, Maintenance & Facilities Biologics Leadership Team.

Key Accountabilities And Duties
  • Managing all engineering and maintenance activities in multiple plants of the Biologics site covering different technologies. Setting up a team of supervisors, senior engineers and specialists. Gives leadership to the team with full responsibility for all aspects of human resource management such as qualification, development, coaching, hiring, pay decisions and discipline issues.
  • Responsible for resource and vacation planning of the assigned team members with regard to the fulfillment of all production orders.
  • Ensures a good information exchange from the upper management levels to his/her team and the other way around through regularly team meetings and escalation of production issues.
  • Implements the LONZA culture via openness for change and new ideas, cooperative teamwork and continuous improvement even outside his/her own area of responsibility. Implements a vision as service provider in his organization
  • Working as plant engineering lead in capital investment projects for building and commissioning of the manufacturing units.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing the Maintenance and LAMP strategy, standards and concepts in the Biologics facilities in alignment with the whole Lonza Visp site. Focus on cost-efficient preventive maintenance. Responsible for implementation of change-over strategy.
  • Support production and project teams in all questions of plant engineering andmaintenance.
  • Secures professional and economic execution of maintenance activities and high availability of the manufacturing units and equipment.
  • Responsible for control and compliance of annual maintenance budget, lump sum and CAPEX budget.
  • Implementation of improvement ideas (Innovation) for processes, plants and procedures (maintenance excellence)
  • Representing engineering & maintenance during regulatory inspections and customer audits
  • Ensures and manages the interfaces to the Manufacturing teams and QA, as well to Project Engineering and Site Engineering.
  • Responsible for control of own cost centers, identifies and implements cost reduction measures
  • As a member of the Engineering, Maintenance & Facilities Biologics Leadership Team responsible for all aspects related to engineering, maintenance.
Qualifications And Skills Required
  • BS/MS from Technical university or University for applied sciences related degrees. Preferred area of study: Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Automation
  • Very good understanding of business and financial processes, as well as the good knowledge of engineering processes and manufacturing processes
  • Strong leadership skills, stakeholder management and team orientation
  • Open-minded for new ideas and suggestions
  • Structured, focused and well-organized working attitude
  • Agile, highly motivated and dynamic drive, Solution-oriented
  • Advanced written and oral communication skills in German and English, very good knowledge regarding MS Office especially Excel, Word
