HackVentures is out to become the largest investor across Climate / Health / Food - without raising a single fund. We allow angels to invest small ($1k+) tickets across startups working on shaping a better people/planet and are out to deploy $1bn into climate tech solutions by 2026.

Our team is rapidly growing. We are looking for an enthusiastic Head of Legal & Compliance to lead our deal structuring, legal and compliance operations.

The ideal candidate will be someone deeply passionate about the Climate and Health sector, interested in FinTech, and has concrete administrative experience in a legal / private-equity environment.

Tasks

We’re looking for a Head of Legal & Compliance to support our growing operations and lead the structuring and development of our venturing arm.

You ideally have experience working in a FinTech / VC / Law Firm, with specific experience in venturing and private equity. You have a strong understanding of European Financial Laws (MiFID, KYC, AML) and International Financial Laws (SEC, FATCA). You have previous experience with the structuring of investment vehicles and the issuing of securities. You know how to quickly find answers in areas you lack knowledge of.

A natural leader, you’re organized and have strong attention to detail. You are willing to take on various tasks with a proactive attitude in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will be expected to :
  • Structuring of our investment vehicle(s), with the support of our legal counsel and executive team.
  • Drafting & approving legal documents; and preparing the issuing of securities for each investment deal.
  • Keeping it compliant, and flag any potential compliance issues before they arise
  • Coordinating & managing efforts between our internal team and our external legal counsel
  • Identify specific areas worthy of further investigation to improve our current and future operational processes.
The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar position, preferably within legal or financial sectors around FinTech, Impact Investment or Private Equity. A specific understanding of the Swiss, England & Wales and/or Luxembourg financial laws is a big plus.

Requirements
  • 3-5 years experience in similar roles.
  • Strong organization skills and attention to detail.
  • Leadership capabilities and a sense of ownership.
  • Strong interest in sustainability, technology and private equity.
  • Digital native and tech-savvy
  • An adaptable, can-do spirit.
  • Resourceful and self-starter.
  • Ability to take and give constructive feedback.
  • Proficiency in English and excellent writing skills.
Previous experience in a similar position is necessary (private-equity / law firm / vc firm).

Benefits
