YOUR MISSION:
As team head of the AML Transaction Monitoring team, your primary focus will be on:
  • Leading a team of AML transaction monitoring compliance officers in the daily handling of alerts generated by our transaction monitoring tool, which may give rise to suspicions of money laundering, terrorist financing, tax evasion and/or sanctions relates concerns.
  • Manage the escalation of transaction monitoring alerts to the AML investigations team which may require suspicious activity reporting (SAR).
  • Act as a process and product owner for transaction monitoring by:
  • defining and overseeing the functional management of the existing transaction monitoring tool, including determining and maintaining the transaction monitoring scenarios for full compliance with our regulatory obligations and operational efficiency; for quality and timeliness
  • establishing, documenting, reviewing and updating the transaction monitoring team standard operating procedures at Swiss and Group level.
  • Manage the stakeholders internally and externally together with the Compliance Operations team for transaction monitoring technical and tool related matters.
  • Be the lead person assisting the Group Head of Financial Crime Compliance in overseeing transaction monitoring controls and processes and provide input into the Group AML Guidelines and Directives in respect of Transaction Monitoring.
  • contribute to the work of the international locations given the Group role for Financial Crime and provide advice and guidance to the local compliance officers for transaction monitoring compliance.
  • Be an active member in the change mindset and strategy to contribute to the change agenda of project Coral (Compliance transformation project) and any other projects that may be launched in the future
  • Provide regular reporting and management information (MI) to management on the status of the transaction monitoring alerts, and team activities.
  • Provide expert guidance and advice to front office colleagues on complex transaction monitoring alerts from an AML risks perspective and transaction corroboration requirements.
  • Provide training on transaction monitoring to compliance colleagues, the front office and support units when required.
  • Work closely with colleagues in the Client Onboarding and Reviews (COR) team and AML Investigations team for all aspects of AML transaction risks as well as the Sanctions Team.
  • Complete transaction monitoring assessments in respect of case submissions to the to Due Diligence Committee (DDC) and Group Due Diligence Committee (GDDC) in coordination with the Group Head of Financial Crime, and the Head of AML Investigations for potential Suspicious Activity Reporting
  • Additionally, you will play a key role in redesigning our future transaction monitoring framework by ensuring continuous tactical improvements as well as informing the long-term strategic vision.
DESIRED PROFILE:
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Banking, Finance or Law, or evidence of comparable academic / work achievement;
  • 10 to 20 years of experience in the financial services industry in an AML monitoring role, ideally within a Swiss Private Bank;
  • Excellent understanding of the Swiss regulatory environment, in particular as regards the provisions of AMLO FINMA in respect to transaction monitoring and KYT (‘know your Transaction’).
  • Ability to summarize complex topics, drive practical outcomes and to make sound decisions or proposals, including escalation when appropriate, as well as the ability to work well under pressure and deliver against short deadlines;
  • Proven track record in leading operational teams and optimising processes
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership, presentation and influencing skills. In particular, a proven ability to foster productive relationships with front office staff and senior management;
  • Fluent in English and French; and additional language would be a plus.
  • Resident in Switzerland or willingness to relocate.
