About us

TotalEnergies installed its European trading hub across in Geneva, which now bring together very large teams around trading activities: TotalEnergies Trading & Shipping (T&S) and TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP).

TotalEnergies Gas and Power (TGP) is the trading arm of TotalEnergies in the field of low carbon energies. As such, it operates in fast-evolving market dynamics influenced by internal and external factors that require constant adaptation and evolution.
The Trading division in Geneva is responsible for optimising the purchase & sales portfolios of gas, electricity, CO2 emissions, dry bulk, and LNG in all recognised markets worldwide, in compliance with the Company trading guidelines.
In such context, TGP helps to ensure growth and profitability to a key segment of the business in order to reach the objective of Carbon Neutrality by 2050.

Context and Environment

The Trading Division is responsible for the development and the management of a portfolio of commercial outlets for natural gas, natural gas liquids, shale gas, liquefied natural gas, power, emissions certificates, and dry bulk products in Europe, the United States and Asia.
The fast-paced trading environment requires the jobholder to work autonomously and within the team. The position requires daily interactions with other departments within the organization notably Front Office, Market Research, Middle Office, Back Office, Finance and Compliance. Industry and contractual deadlines have to be met, requiring a good ability to plan and work under time pressure.

What you will do

You will join the Digital Innovation office team, under the supervision of Head of Digital Transformation and Innovation.
As an intern, you will implement advanced analytical and predictive tools when applicable. You will leverage digital tools and technologies for the implementation of innovative solutions in order to create business value. You will also contribute to promote digital innovation culture in the organisation and practice development initiatives including internal community development (e.g Data Scientist network)
Finally, you will contribute to improve data management and data analytics across the organization.

To fulfil these missions, your tasks will be as follows:
  • Contribute to improve data capture, data analytics and data visualization within the business
  • Explore and assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques
  • Assist the team to build interactive visual and reports displaying models and analysis results (RShiny, Dash, D3js …)
  • Collaborate with all departments (Front-Office, Risk Control, Research … ) and assist the business in leveraging new digital approaches and technologies
  • Conduct and participate to quantitative analytical research in order to improve the understanding on commodities markets (mainly Power and Carbon markets)
  • Build simulation and stress tests tools (e.g. short-term power: plant unavailability, temperature,

Candidate profile

  • You are a Computer Science/ Mathematics/ Data Science/ Finance student, enrolling the last year of your Master
  • You have a strong analytical and computing skills : data analytics, stochastics processes and modelling , AI/Machine Learning
  • You have a strong expertise in data collection, data engineering and front-end development, cloud computing ...
  • You have a good understanding of commodity trading, energy industry
  • Strong English verbal and writing skills and French language is an advantage
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work under pressure, in emergency and doing multi-task altogether.
  • A tri-partite internship agreement is mandatory
