We offer a flexible working environment where curious and adaptable people thrive. Are you interested in joining us?

About the Role

Do you have a passion for dynamic, fast and challenging work where you can develop yourself in a best in class asset management environment? Do you enjoy working as a trusted specialist advisor to achieve an optimized outcome by aligning the interests of various business partners and other functions? Then Investment Steering is a phenomenal opportunity for you. If you exhibit good strategic instinct that can be applied to crafting an optimal Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA) for Asset Management and each of our subsidiaries, then you might be the person we are looking for. Currently we are hiring someone who enjoys a fast-paced environment to join our Investment Steering EMEA team. In this role, you will be acting as the bridge between our clients - the EMEA based legal entities - and Asset Management. You will get an excellent opportunity to participate in cross functional projects collaborating both within Asset Management as well as with legal entity and other Group function partners. Expand your knowledge and continue your career journey with us!

You will:

  • Analyze Swiss Re’s overall investment strategy from a legal entity point of view. This includes considering implications on Solvency II, SST and other capital regimes, as well other regulatory considerations and tax and accounting impacts

  • Support preparing the material and analysis required to present the investment results and strategy proposals to the legal entity management teams and Board of Directors

  • Work closely with Portfolio Managers, including investment mandate definition and steering, to ensure that legal entity and other considerations are appropriately addressed

  • Collaborate in steering the Group’s ALM, considering implications across various accounting bases (EVM, local statutory, US GAAP, etc)

  • Craft and update legal entity investment guidelines for approval by the Local CFO and the Board of Directors

  • Supervise our legal entity investment activity and keep current on our portfolio positioning, also within the context of the Group and Business Unit strategies

  • Support in designing and overseeing investment tools and infrastructure to drive an efficient investment process

About the Team

The Asset Management Client Solutions & Analytics (CSA) team is the center of excellence for the provision of investment steering and financial markets analytics expertise across Swiss Re. The team provides a dedicated port-of-call for the Business Units and Corporate Functions, as well as other teams across Asset Management, enabling their respective strategies through supporting new business, design of structured transactions, enhanced analytics, risk mitigation and the efficient steering of investment positioning activity.

The Investment Steering Carriers & Regions ("ISCR") team is part of CSA and plays an integral role in crafting and implementing the SAA. We are also responsible for representing Asset Management to the management bodies and Boards of the (re)insurance operating entities and thus serve as the relationship manager with these clients, covering all investment related topics. Furthermore, we define investment mandates for internal and external managers and steer the use of legal entity balance sheets with regards to investments.

About You

  • You have achieved a bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business Management, Finance, Economics or other related field.

  • You have knowledge of major asset classes, investment types, investment analytics and risk management models.

  • Minimum of 3 years meaningful experience in the insurance or financial services industry. Ideal background would be asset management for a (re)insurance company.

  • You hold a CFA, FRM or actuarial designation.

  • Knowledge of (re)insurance business, regulation, taxes and accounting in Switzerland and Europe is a plus.

  • You are known for your excellent interpersonal skills.

  • You feel comfortable and enjoy working in an international environment.

  • You have strong MS-Office skills, Excel and PowerPoint in particular.

Swiss Re embraces diversity and equal opportunity. We are committed to building an inclusive team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. Our aim is to live visible and invisible diversity – diversity of age, race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical abilities, personalities and experiences – at all levels and in all functions and regions.

We also collaborate in a flexible working environment, providing you with a compelling degree of autonomy to decide how, when and where we work most effectively!
