As the Junior Chef you will support our Head Chef in running our two summer outlets: the summer Garden and our sourdough bakery. This position is for someone who is excited to be involved in a young team and who can show his/her enthusiasm with the curiosity to learn. We can offer a job that’s exciting, challenging and constantly evolving.
Contract duration:
July - mid September with possibility to extend for winter season
What you do:
- Preparing by assembling, combining, and cooking ingredients; and maintaining a sanitary kitchen
- Your goal is with time to be able to run the evening restaurant kitchen during lower occupancy days.
- Collaborates with the Head Chef in bread making process and in the running of the bread making outlet
- Completes cleaning according to daily and weekly schedules and dishwashing/pot washing as needed.
- Prepares ingredients by following recipes; slicing, cutting, chopping, mincing, stirring, whipping, and mixing ingredients; adding seasonings; verifying taste
- Meets high standards in food handling and preparation
- Participates in and/or contributes to programs, committees, or projects designed to improve guest experience
- Adheres to proper food handling, sanitation, and safety procedures; maintains Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) logs, and maintains appropriate dating, labeling, and rotation of all food items
Who you are:
You’re a strong and experienced cook with passion for the simple and humble cuisine with fresh, organic produce. Obviously you’ll have a keen interest in food and wine, be a team player, have solid cooking techniques and attention to detail, and have focus on quality over quantity. You’re the kind of person that reads Elizabeth David and Harold McGee instead of Gordon Ramsey while eating pâté en croute.
