We are looking for a highly motivated Support Engineer to join our 3rd level Technical Support engineering team for our Mission Critical Communications Office in Baden (Switzerland). Technical Support Engineer is the source of technical expertise in the field of telecommunications networks and applications for mission critical communications.   • Your expertise in Network Management Systems and mission-critical applications makes you a valuable resource.
  • Our worldwide customer base relies on you to support their Network Management Systems. NMS manages Hitachi Energy Network platform UMUX, XMC20, FOX515, FOX615, offering Ethernet, MPLS-TP, Voice, Data, PDH, and SDH services.
  • You introduce mission-critical communication technologies and applications to the market.
  • You act as an interface between external customers and Hitachi internal departments (Product Management, Sales, Engineering, R&D). This role involves supporting the involved parties with your deep knowledge of NMS, and associated applications.
  • You provide technical support (L3) to internal and external customers under SLAs. (includes 24/7 support)
  • You provide technical support to Sales during tendering (RFQ) to ensure the proposed solution is both commercially optimized and technically sound (e.g., network topology, L2 and L3 designs).
  • You prepare and execute Proof of Concepts (PoC) when required by customers.
  • You review requirements defined by PM and R&D to ensure proper network performance and successful execution of projects in mission critical communication.
  • You provide technical support to internal and external engineering and services teams during project execution
Your background
  • Must-have Telecommunication or IT Engineering and a minimum work experience of 3-5 years in Telecommunications or IT
  • Must-have General knowledge of operating systems LINUX like RedHat (preferred) or other distribution RedHat compatible
  • Nice-to-have Working knowledge with virtualization (e.g. VMware, KVM, dockers…) and Windows .
  • Must-have Working knowledge with scripting languages like Python (preferred), Perl / Shell Linux .
  • Must-have Working knowledge with Network security know how (e.g. vulnerability scanning tools, Hardening, cybersecurity concepts…)
  • Nice-to-have a LINUX certification program like REDHAT RHCSA, lpi LPIC-2, CompTIA Linux+
  • Nice-to-have Working experience (testing or/and operation or/and development or/and integration) in network management or NE elements domains with preference on Optical technology/MPLS-TP
  • Passion for knowledge; ability to further grow and enhance your technical and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with conflicting priorities, take the initiative, and maintain a customer-centric focus
  • Ability to work as part of a team, open-minded, collaborative approach
  • Passion for problem-solving and investigation
  • Good communication skills and the ability to listen to customer issues
  • Languages: very good command of English; German and French are an advantage
  • Team player with a high customer focus and analytic thinking.
