It is mostly an accounting role, the focus will be on managing budgets and related reporting, however, there might be some tasks related to analysis – e.g., financial reporting/managing investment fund etc.

About Our Client

Our client is one of the leading banking institutions in Switzerland.

On behalf of our client, Swisslinx is currently looking for a Part-time Financial Accountant based in Basel. This is a contracting role for 6 months initially with the potential to extend thereafter. The proposed workload is 60-80%.

Your Mission

  • Manage accounting processes for daily, month-end, quarter-end and year-end activities, including reconciliations and other control procedures, in coordination with Finance department.
  • Produce, review, analyse and develop high-quality financial and budget reports in accordance with the internal accounting policies and procedures and complementary policies and procedures, including quarterly financial reports
  • Calculate annual membership fees, prepare and distribute invoices and monitor the collection of fees, including reminders.
  • Prepare invoices and payment vouchers for financial business transactions.
  • Provide assistance, respond to and resolve matters as part of the annual audits.
  • Participate in projects to maintain and improve finance systems, business processes, internal controls and reports within the Finance section as well as in bank-wide initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders, in particular to liaise with the Finance and Procurement departments.
  • Maintain, develop and review finance related policies such as budgeting and financial reporting policies and processes. This can include identification of new policies and procedures as well as reviewing old policies for accuracy.
  • Perform additional duties as required

Your Background

  • University degree in accounting, business administration or equivalent.
  • A primary accounting qualification (ACA, CPA, CA, Wirtschaftsprüfer or equivalent experience), with at least five years relevant post qualification experience.
  • Strong reporting and accounting skills.
  • Knowledge of the Swiss Code of Obligations and Swiss GAAP FER.
  • Strong IT skills Excellent Microsoft Excel skills is essential.

Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and is a good team worker.
  • High attention to detail, problem solving, analytical skills and time management skills to organise and prioritise own work with minimum supervision and the ability to manage multiple projects/duties and also be able to handle stressful situations.

Nice to Have

  • Other major world languages desirable.
  • Knowledge of financial management information systems, and reporting-writing tools (e.g. PeopleSoft, Oracle Fusion, SAP Concur).
  • Experience in the financial industry.
