We’re hiring a Production Lead!

You will be responsible for Responsible for the seed production including but not limited to: Cotton; Soybeans; Sorghum; Alfalfa; WOSR and SOSR; leading a defined network of seed production contractors ensuring goals are achieved relative to safety and values, seed production, quality, and cost.; coordinating with other SP Leaders for the safe and efficient production of other crops, develop processes for these crops, and helping employee development when crops are produced in Corteva existing production locations.

Your Challenge
  • Provide leadership in driving our safety commitment to zero. Collaborate with EHS&S and engage site teams to ensure strategic direction is aligned and executed.
  • Engage site teams to integrate corporate values in all aspects of operations.
  • Provide leadership, direction, and focus to operational activities, ensuring the strategic mobilization of resources needed to support the commercial business, meet strategic goals and manage cost-of-goods-sold.
  • Interface with marketing, R&D, crop planning, supply chain, procurement, and commercial business to ensure strategic alignment across functions for assigned crops.
  • Interact with Internal Key Subject Matter Experts for such crops in the US, to build in-house expertise in Europe.
  • Help develop strategies and business plans for other crops.
  • Work with Production Research team to develop best field practices; identify and select growing regions; and guidelines for crop
  • Select locations and contractors to work with in the field production and conditioning of other crops.
  • Develop a team to effectively monitor and audit the contracted production of other crops.
  • Develop and execute strategic workforce plans to determine future headcount and skill set needs, succession plans and sourcing qualified candidates.
  • In coordination with other Production Leaders manage development of SPSC short and long term strategies and budgets (operational and capital). Monitor expenditures and provide direction on handling of unplanned items and issues. Review, approve, and represent other crops strategies and budgets. Make recommendations for capital investments and guide decisions related to capacity of network operations.
  • Create a strong culture of employee development, inclusion and diversity and high employee engagement. Ensure employee development processes are utilized to coach and provide feedback to employees. Ensure employee effort and results are recognized and rewarded.
  • Provide sponsorship of projects, team members, timelines and deliverables to ensure productivity objectives are met.

Qualifications

To Grow What Matters, You Will Need
  • BA or BS (or equivalent), preferably in operations, agriculture, or business
  • Knowledge and/or experience in the crops involved. Seed production experience preferrable.
  • 10+ years of business or operations experience
  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills
  • Project management experience
  • Understanding of seed manufacturing principles (quality, productivity)
  • Strong understanding of the seed business
  • Strong financial acumen
  • High level of issue identification, problem solving and decision making skills
  • Ability to influence and coordinate effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally
  • Requires > 50% travel
