As part of Leonardo, Kopter currently develops the AW09, a next generation single-engine helicopter that offers the largest cabin and cargo hold in its category, increased modularity and modern electronic systems. The AW09 delivers latest safety standards as well as more performance and comfort at low operating costs.

Kopter is set to become Leonardo’s Centre of Excellence for new light helicopters and an incubator of new technologies, contributing to the development of hybrid and electrical propulsion systems. Kopter’s 320 talented team members are primarily based in Switzerland, near Zurich and in Mollis (Canton of Glarus).

Your Responsibilities

The Project Engineer is responsible for:

►The definition of product level requirements within the design organisation.

►The coordination and the management of all technical initiatives for the aircraft system. from concept design through production and entry into service.

►The end-end technical oversight of a program.

►Provides guidance and support to a team of engineering professionals.

►Develops and performs overall technical planning and provide airworthiness verification support, i.e. management of design and/or technical airworthiness reviews.

►Helps to resolve technical problems that would affect cost, schedule and aircraft system performance.

►Works closely with engineering technical areas and other subject matter experts for the review and approval of engineering design solutions.

►Provides coordination across the multi-disciplinary team.

►Supports the development of technical and product road-maps.

►Manages proto-type configuration choices and implementation /embodiment.

Skills, qualifications and experience

►Is a technically strong engineer with strong organisational and coordination skills and the capability to support a cross-functional team.

►Combines a broad knowledge of certification skills, engineering principles, manufacturing techniques and analytical skills to certify products which meet or exceed specifications and requirements.

►Is able to coordinate technical requirements internally and with customers, suppliers and authorities.

►Has a strong initiative to coordinate to work through technical, cost and schedule issues.

►Is able to work independently and prioritize duties with minimal supervision.

►Has expertise in developing rotary or fixed wing aircraft.

►Has strong written and verbal communication skills.

►Negotiation or influencing skills.

Requirements

3-5 years of work experience in the following fields:

►Expertise in developing rotary or fixed wing aircraft essential

►Mechanical Design

►Electronic Hardware & Software Development

►EASA Part-21J knowledge essential

►CS 27/29 or CS25 knowledge essential

►Requirements management

►Aircraft and component testing

►Aircraft qualification and certification

►Aircraft in-service experience

►English – verbal and written at minimum B2 level

►Previous international work environment experience an asset
