In this role, you will collaborate closely with the Strain & Process Development, Quality Assurance & Quality Control and various production facilities to ensure that the cell banks handled and released at Lonza meet the cGMP requirements.Apply now to become part of this exciting opportunity!Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage cell banking projects within the Microbial Development Services for diverse customers and across different clinical phases.
  • Take ownership in on-time, in-full delivery of assigned cell banking projects including cell bank manufacturing and characterization (viable cell count, strain identity, purity, genetic stability, etc.) as well as incoming control testing of customer cell banks.
  • Generate GMP documents & reports and handle TrackWise records. As subject matter expert, represent Cell Banking in both internal project meetings and customer meetings, addressing highly complex topics.
  • Manage the inventory of the iLAB-based cell bank database and drive continuous innovation in the MCB processes.
  • Maintain the cGMP quality standard for designated processes in line with applicable SOPs and current health authority/international guidelines (e.g. EMEA, ICH, FDA).
  • Foster effective collaboration by networking with partner units and relevant stakeholders within Lonza to ensure the successful execution of projects.
  • Represent MCB during customer and regulatory authority audits.
  • Support in recruiting, training and assignment of team members.
Key Requirements
  • Hold an MSc or PhD in Molecular Biology, Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field
  • Possess substantial work experience (3+ years) in the pharmaceutical industry, preferably under cGMP regulations. Background in biotechnology, regulatory filings, and experience in a matrix organization are highly advantageous.
  • Demonstrate robust leadership abilities, sound problem solving skills within your domain, effective communication and diplomacy skills for exchanging complex information and negotiations.
  • Exhibit a proactive, solution-oriented mindset with a strong emphasis on customer satisfaction.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English and German
