AO Global Networks comprises our clinical specialties of trauma, spine, craniomaxillofacial, veterinary and reconstructive surgery, facilitating the effective sharing of functional best practice and expertise across our clinical areas. We develop world-leading experts through our best-in-class educational events and state-of-the-art research, enabling us to respond to changing clinical needs and improve patient outcomes.

We are looking for a highly motivated person for the position of

Team Leader for Education Events & Relations Europe and Southern Africa (100%)

Based in Davos you will be part of the new Global Networks Education Events & Relations team and you will lead a team of Project Managers for a defined geographical area in the Europe & Southern African region.

The following responsibilities are assigned to this role:

Leadership

  • Accountable for all related activities of the Education Events & Relations cluster (strategic events planning and delivery, country councils)
  • Leading a team and oversee the activities of your direct line reports (i.e. Event Owners in your cluster)
  • Quality control, budget & controlling, reporting to Education Events & Relations Leadership
  • Implementation of AO’s Global Education Process and Educational Guidelines in close collaboration with local surgeon leadership
  • Support Regional Managers and AO Controlling establishing and maintaining financial planning and control processes

Educational Events

  • Plan and manage assigned Educational Events in collaboration with internal and external partners, including, event budgeting and support grant execution, sponsoring, invoice handling, P&L reporting, voucher management, fill rate management, follow up and closing (incl. reimbursement process)
  • Support the Educational Event Chairs in the development of scientific programs to meet the given deadlines
  • Identify and invite Faculty and Speakers in close collaboration with the Course Chair
  • Develop reliable working relationships with all involved stakeholders (local surgeons, faculty, event agency, AO Event Services, and industry partners) to enable strong engagement and buy-in to AO
  • Ensure highest educational quality and AO branding standards are achieved
  • Manage the relationships with the respective local industrial partner

Relationship Management & Governance

  • Develop local networks by engaging and building strong relationships with local surgeons to embrace the local environment and understand the local needs
  • Manage AO governance groups e.g., national country councils

In order to master this challenge, you have

  • University or similar degree
  • At least five years of relevant experience in the medical or scientific field and/or experience with medical education
  • Experience in medical events/course organization would be an advantage
  • Experience leading a team of direct reports and/or project teams with internal and external stakeholders
  • Strong leadership, project management and communication skills
  • A proactive, service driven, and consensus-oriented personality
  • The ability to manage strong personalities
  • A convincing personality who can negotiate and deal on all levels
  • A high stress resistance and resilience
  • The willingness to travel (up to 30-40%)
  • Strong command of English language is a must (speaking/writing). Mastering another European language is considered a plus
