R&D Polymer Chemist

Build on established processes and develop new solutions towards more sustainable and circular processes. Drive the improvement, scaling and implementation of innovative processes and equipment for polymer production and recycling. Develop new recycling processes based on devolatilization. Use modelling and experimental methods. Use and develop lab scale methods to provide the bases to design pilot scale plants. Be in close contact with our business teams and customers worldwide.

This R&D work is in the field of polymer production and recycling processes, including relevant analytics.

Join our innovation team within the Chemtech division in Switzerland as R&D Polymer Chemist and help us bringing new processes to life.

Your main tasks and responsibilities:

  • Initiate, lead and run development projects in the field of physical and chemical recycling processes with static equipment.
  • Take over responsibility for polymer analytics.
  • Support customer trials with analytics, assessment of risks involved and support business teams in devolatilization projects.
  • Support R&D team in the field of modelling of chemical processes, e.g., Aspen.
  • Manage communication and projects with internal and external partners.
  • Communicate results in reports, technical articles and externally, e.g., at technical conferences.
  • Contribute to IP development and monitoring in the field of field of physical and chemical recycling processes with static equipment.

What you bring to Sulzer:

  • Work experience: 3-5 years
  • Expertise (e.g., professional, technical): polymer chemistry, analytics, chemical engineering, devolatilization
  • Education: Level: Master with professional qualification or PhD
