Sony AI is seeking highly motivated, self-driven individuals with expertise in computer vision research. We’re currently looking for smart, enthusiastic people who want to join our team of world renowned researchers as we push the boundaries applying AI in support of human creativity. In this role, the successful candidate will contribute to our groundbreaking flagship projects from the perspectives of computer vision and robotic technology.
You will:
  • Basic research in computer vision, computational photography, and machine learning to our flagship projects
  • Development and implementation of algorithms above
  • Deployment of proof of concept demonstrators with novel sensors and hardware
  • Close collaboration with colleagues in Japan, Switzerland, and the US
  • Travel to other Sony sites and international conferences
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Background in engineering or computer science and experience in computer vision or computational photography research (PhD or equivalent experience) with a track record of relevant academic publications, patents, and/or open source software.
  • Experience with hardware and embedded systems is a plus.
  • Experience with machine learning model compression is a plus.
  • Experience with one or some of them is a plus. Depth cameras, IR cameras, multispectral cameras, optics, event-based cameras, CMOS sensors.
  • A track record of implementing software in C++ and Python. Experience with embedded software development or GPU programming is a plus.
  • Excellent oral and written English. Japanese language skills are a plus but not a necessity.
Other Required Knowledge
  • The ability to deliver on tight deadlines and adapt to evolving or changing requirements
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, and willingness in learning Japanese
