About The TeamThe Global (Re)Insurance Accounting & Reporting Life and Health team in Group Finance has global ownership of L&H sub-ledger related accounting and closing activities covering all valuation bases (i.e. US GAAP, IFRS 17, EVM and Statutory). In addition, the team is also responsible for ensuring Economic Value Management (EVM) reporting quality and consistency by providing second line review of the quarterly EVM valuation figures submitted by the L&H Business Management valuation actuaries.The Subledger Closing team is part of Global (Re)Insurance A&R L&H team with responsibility for the quarterly L&H sub-ledger financial closing for reinsurance entities. A position in our team gives you a wide range of opportunities to expand your understanding of the accounting and economics of the reinsurance business, and the operation of the quarterly closing. With our team often acting as a single point of contact for L&H liaising between many different internal functions, such as FP&A, Reinsurance Reporting, Regional Finance, L&H Business Management Actuarial, Technical Accounting, Group EVM and External Reporting, you will also be able to practice your communication skills collaborating with colleagues from different teams.We are a high-performing team with varied strengths of ca. 50 team members primarily located in Bangalore, Bratislava and Zurich. You will have the possibility to develop your expertise in various accounting bases, i.e. US GAAP, Swiss Statutory and especially IFRS covering both IFRS 17 and IFRS 9. Furthermore you will interact in a broad network of Reinsurance functions across various divisions thereby growing your visibility and exposure to key partners.The Main Tasks Of The Position Are
  • Support the US GAAP, Swiss Statutory and IFRS quarterly closing and reporting process for the reinsurance L&H business, ensuring timely preparation of high-quality deliverables
  • Perform accounting and reporting entries in various financial systems
  • Manage efficient and effective reconciliation process across different valuations
  • Ensure integrity, accuracy and completeness of sub-ledger data
  • Interpret and analyze quarterly financial results as well as large external retro deals, providing business insights and explanations to relevant stakeholders
  • Review intra-group and large external retrocessions, ensuring that the reporting is consistent following relevant accounting principles
  • Act as contact for any process or control related inquiries for different valuations and for different partners, including internal and external audit
About You
  • University graduate with primary or higher degree (or equivalent), preferably in economics, finance, accounting or a quantitative field
  • More than 5 years of relevant professional experience with Finance or Accounting qualification (e.g. CPA, CA, ACCA, CFA)
  • Experience and understanding of IFRS 9 and IFRS 17 accounting standards desired
  • Knowledge of quarterly accounting and closing processes with sound understanding of financial statements
  • Previous experience within the insurance sector, a plus
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deliverables simultaneously
  • Willingness to acquire necessary system and technical knowledge
  • Flexible and stress resilient – capable of managing own workload and provide flexibility during peak periods
  • Self-motivated – able to work independently with a high degree of autonomy
  • Team spirit – team player with a can-do attitude
  • Culture sensitive – ability to work with a multidisciplinary team across locations
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral, a must
