Our client, a fast-growing start-up based in Lausanne (Switzerland) backed by Y-Combinator, provides advanced software solutions (Software as a Service SaaS) for the optimization of solar energy production. These predictive systems – the world’s first – provide the means for existing ones to generate even more energy and de-risk projects. Already used by leading global energy companies, this approach will disrupt solar energy production and is recognized as «Best for the world» by the B-Corporation Institute for its high contribution to the environment. To support the success of this leading product in the global sustainable energy market, our client now wishes to develop its commercial structure and sales strategy. Senior Business Development & Sales Strategy (M/F)
This very interesting position, based on an innovative and already successful product, will allow you to participate in the growth of a leading start-up and to be a key player in its evolution. You will also participate in the results of this promising company and work closely with the CEO.

Main tasks
  • Disrupt the existing sales strategy and processes and create new ones, qualify the markets best suited for sales development and growth, and develop buyer persona
  • Personally implement this sales strategy by contacting key customers and turning them into paying clients
  • Identify new prospects and introduce them to this new way of increasing the productivity of their solar installations, if necessary, in collaboration with the company’s high-level engineers
  • Ensure the growth of the turnover and maintaining the company’s margins
  • Track progress towards meeting sales goals and provide regular reports on sales activities and results to management.
  • Participate in webinars, conferences, and summits to represent the company globally
  • Stay on top of trends, find opportunities, and prioritize based on size and internal capabilities
  • Develop in-depth knowledge of competitors, clients, and market dynamics to better demonstrate the superiority of this advanced solution in terms of productivity gains and benefits for the future of solar power generation
  • Adapt the sales structure to business growth, build and lead a team independently
  • Evaluate the relevance, effectiveness and viability of product/service offerings through customer feedback or market research and align with the marketing department
  • Contribute globally to the evolution of products and services by listening to customers and understanding their new needs, as well as liaising with the product team to help them define product roadmap
Your profile
  • You are an international Business Development Manager who knows how to listen, make people adhere to your solutions and lead a negotiation to its closing
  • You have a degree in Business (MBA is preferred), a Bachelor in Engineering or Economics and Commerce with more than 5 years experience of SaaS Business Development & Sales within the renewables (or related) sectorYou have a degree in Business (MBA is preferred), a Bachelor in Engineering or Economics and Commerce with more than 5 years experience in Business Development & Sales in the SaaS Industry (renewable)
  • You have a good technical and business understanding of the renewable energy market (solar recommended)
  • You like to learn and train, especially in the analytics and software industry
  • You know how to conduct and implement strategies
  • The quality of your listening skills and your sense of customer service allow you to build quality and long-lasting contacts with your clients
  • You are result-oriented and a positive person
  • You have entrepreneurial experience and understand the challenges and opportunities in making a startup grow
  • From your base in Lausanne, you are willing to travel to India, Europe and the USA
  • You have excellent communication skills (oral & written) in English and in a second language (French, German or Spanish)
