The Medical Devices (MD) organization encompasses three Franchises (Ethicon, CSS, DePuy Synthes), spanning four geographic regions (EMEA, LATAM, APAC and North America). The Medical Devices Supply Chain supports $23 billion USD in Sales, Global Net Inventory of $4 billion, and greater than 180,000 SKUs (2020 actuals).

Responsibilities

The Global Planning Leader for TECA will lead the Global Planning function for Trauma, Extremities, Craniomaxillofacial and Animal Health (TECA), a major business platform within DePuy Synthes (DPS) with annual sales of about $3.2B. The Leader will be responsible for driving the Supply Planning Process globally with a strong Customer-First focus, ensuring that customer service objectives are being met while meeting cost and inventory cash flow targets for the platform. The role will report into the Vice President of Global Planning for DPS. The role will partner closely with the Vice President of TECA Supply Chain to support the delivery of the End-to-End (E2E) Platform strategy and day-to-day execution of supply chain activities.

In order to deliver the objectives of the role, this leader will be responsible for building a leading-edge planning capability for the TECA platform, in line with the Supply Chain Planning strategy for DPS and overall MD. Critical to building these new capabilities will be establishing foundational capabilities in the core planning systems and ERP systems and evolving the planning process from a functional focus to an end-to-end value stream focus with an accelerated evolution towards advanced analytics and autonomous planning capabilities.

This leader will lead a team of about 30 staff. A key area of accountability will be to ensure that this team reflects the talent and capabilities required to deliver the overall objectives for the function and platform.

The Global Planning Leader For TECA Is Accountable For
  • The design, operation and continued improvement of the Global Planning process for TECA.
  • Owning the Global IBP process execution for TECA and ensuring - in partnership with the E2E Platform Leader - that key decisions required from the process are being provided to support the Global Planning process.
  • The detailed execution of the Supply Planning Process so that product is available at the right place, in the right quantities and at the right time to service our customers.
  • Owning and monitoring key supply chain plan-related performance metrics including:
  • Service: OTIF-Delivered, Backorder value.
  • Inventory: value and days of inventory, measured at each echelon of the supply chain.
  • Demand Forecast accuracy: Bias and Forecast Error - measured in partnership with the regions to hold them accountable through the S&OP process.
  • Manufacturing Plan Attainment: Volume and Mix MPS Attainment - measured to hold manufacturing sites accountable for delivering their planned output.
  • Excess & Obsolete: value and split between NPI and base business, measured both at the warehouse and field levels in partnership with the regions.
  • NPI launch metrics: On-time launch performance
  • Team productivity metrics, including $ per SKU planned for the Platform.
  • Team Diversity metrics.
  • Providing DPS Supply Chain and Commercial leadership with timely reports that inform about service, product availability issues and mitigation actions, and overall planning effectiveness assessment for the platform supply chain.
  • Owning the blueprint for planning process improvement for the platform, with the objective of moving towards autonomous planning, supported by advanced analytical capabilities.
  • Representing Global Planning on the TECA E2E Supply Chain Leadership Team.

The Global Planning Leader For TECA Is Responsible For
  • Ensuring Planning process alignment with the MD Supply Chain blueprint.
  • Supporting the evolution of the Planning blueprint for the future based on his/her functional expertise, experiences, and insights.
  • Supporting the E2E TECA Platform Team with functional analytics and insights to drive the overall optimization of E2E metrics for the TECA Platform.

Education

Qualifications
  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, Business, Supply Chain Management or related discipline is required.
  • An advanced degree in Science, Engineering, Business or equivalent experience is preferred.

Experience And Key Competencies
  • A minimum fifteen (15) years of experience in a complex Supply Chain environment is expected, along with a proven leadership track record in Supply Chain Planning.
  • The ability to drive process improvements, innovate, prioritize and collaborate in a heavily matrix environment is required.
  • Experience in creating Customer-Centric E2E Supply Chain strategies and delivering Best-in-Class business results through innovative customer-focused solutions is required.
  • Ability to influence and gain cross-functional support to deliver the strategy is required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and drive operational improvement using process excellence tools is preferred.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills are critical for success in this role.
  • Experience in healthcare or similarly complex, regulatory-dependent sector is preferred.
  • APICS / CSCP / LEAN / Six Sigma certifications are preferred.

LOCATION

This position will be based in Zuchwil, Switzerland. The position is expected to require an average of about 20-30% of travel.
