Wärtsilä in Switzerland is the group’s centre of excellence for low speed two-stroke marine diesel engines. These are utilized for the propulsion of all types of deep-sea ships worldwide, including tankers, general cargo ships and container ships right up to and including the world’s largest ships.

We are now seeking a Senior Manager Operation Support to join our Two-Stroke team on a permanent basis in Frauenfeld, Switzerland.

What Will You Be Doing

As a Senior Manager Operation Support you will ensure that all technical and operating issues are solved in the most optimised way and to full satisfaction of our customers. You will not be working on this alone, you will have the support from your team of technical professionals.

For us to be the best match, we expect you to be passionate about ensuring a first class customer experience and have deep technical knowledge of Wärtsilä two-stroke engines.

As Senior Manager Operation Support, your work will focus on these responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the 2-stroke Operation Support team.
  • Act as a main point of contact for operational questions towards WinGD.
  • Act as focal point for acquiring top level technical and shipping related insides on latest technologies & trends.
  • Develop and maintain customer contacts & network on complex technical matters.
  • Ensure full ownership and management on technical inquiries.
  • Lead major technical repairs.
  • Lead in negotiation activated with insurances and key stake holders.
  • Drive and participate in continuous development of our own employees to meet the expectations of the companies and market know-how.
  • Effectively manage 24/7 emergency operation support to customer & WinGD.
  • Ensure alignment and bi-directional knowledge sharing with global Technical Services organization.
  • Provide and ensure high level technical solutions & consultancy to customer and internal stakeholders.
  • Provide remote troubleshooting and remote operation support for 2-stroke installations as required.

To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
  • Deep technical knowledge of two-stroke engines and partner WinGD.
  • Embody excellent project management execution skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills and ownership to deliver.
  • Ability to drive and maintain high performance across a team of technical professionals.
  • Have an excellent customer experience mindset.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.
