In this position you manage overall plant/production operations by ensuring the execution of an efficient and quality-assured manufacturing of the products by establishing and mainting an efficiently staffed organisation. You drive adequate employee selection, development and retention. You are securing the overall customer delivery milestones by meeting the OTD and cost targets per project. Development of core competencies and processes within Operations. The Operations Manager drives operational excellence initiatives (e.g. production planning, value stream, lead time, inventory management) together with all relevant functions and will ensure a timely implementation.

Representation as Managing Director the legal entity of Nyon with RUAG Space and to the external stakeholders.

Your Responsibilities
  • Lead the Operations Management team for the plant in Nyon
  • Process owner and responsible for the execution of the following activities:
  • Production Office (MDM, Planning, scheduling, P2P Procurement)
  • Production Execution (Manufacturing, Assembly and Integration)
  • Lead and direct the Operations Organization of the plant / production unit through efficiency in
  • Demand and capacity planning
  • Materials & inventory management
  • Manufacturing Execution
  • Quality management and quality control
  • Productivity improvement initiatives
  • Implementation of the production orders within the framework of the specified quality, deadlines, and costs, in
  • cooperation with the quality assurance ensuring the necessary production documentation
  • Optimize manufacturing processes in terms of cost, quality, defect risk/tolerance in collaboration with manufacturing engineering, quality assurance (pFMEA, CtQ) and production teams
  • Establish/execute the investment plan and ensuring of Cost-Center and Capex budgets
  • Collaboration in the non-conformance process and measures for route cause analyses, corrective and preventive measures
  • Support of the Industrial Engineering team in quotations, concept work and developments, interdisciplinary collaboration in make-or-buy decisions
  • Proactively communicates and aligns with the adjacent Manager Operations for best practice and synergies within the Subdivision
  • Take the managerial responsibility towards the direct reports, performing the HR processes such as competence planning, recruitment, performance management, development etc.
  • Lead according to the RUAG Space’s Values and Code of Conduct, and drive the people & leadership development
  • Support collaborative working by assigning skilled employees in cross functional teams during product concept definition phases.
Your profile
  • Education in Engineering, M.Sc. level, Bachelor, Advanced Federal Diploma of Higher Education
  • Management track record in an (international) industry environment
  • Solid technical and production background in a project-based industry
  • Experience in applying Operational Excellence Methods
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Holistic view and good analytical skills
  • Leading Operations in a regulated environment is a plus
  • Space or Aerospace experience is an advantage
  • Fluent English and French skills are required
  • Solution driven, willing to make a difference, strong entrepreneurial thinking and coordination skills
  • Strong motivator with high energy level and persistence to overachieve goals
