Matterhorn Biosciences is looking for a (Senior) Scientist, Analytical Development.

As we continue to build the Process Development team, we are seeking a highly motivated scientist to join our team as a (Senior) Scientist, Analytical Development, supporting the development of novel T cell therapies in house. The role will require the precise application of a diverse range of laboratory-based skills. As such, the successful candidate will have significant experience on development and optimization of analytical methods. The ideal candidate should be highly motivated, enthusiastic with a positive “can do” attitude, hands-on, strong organizational skills, able to work independently and enjoy fast-paced, collaborative, and vibrant start-up culture.

Responsibilities
  • Develop analytical methods for engineered T Cells and starting material
  • Execute a variety of analytical methods, including cell-based assays, flow cytometry, d/qPCR and ELISAs
  • Culture of primary immune cells and cell lines
  • Optimization and validation of analytical methods
  • Ensure suitable documentation of experiments and methods
  • Support the quality control (sampling/ testing) of manufacturing process development
  • Support technology transfer of analytical methods to contract manufacturing organization
  • Oversight and management of external test labs
  • Evaluate new technologies for release and characterization testing
  • Generation and maintenance of SOPs, protocols and technical reports
  • Provide mentorship and training for junior team members, and coordinate and prioritize work to meet timelines
  • Analyze data, make figures for presentation, and present at group and company meetings
Qualifications

You have significant laboratory experience, along with a good understanding of the assays used in a molecular and cellular immunology laboratory. Specifically, we are looking for candidates with the following:
  • Master’s or PhD degree in chemical/ biochemical engineering, biochemistry, biology or a related scientific discipline
  • Master’s with 6+ years or PhD with 2+ years of relevant experience, preferably in biopharmaceutical or biotechnology industry
  • Strong background in tumor immunology, T cell therapy (TCRs/CAR-T cells), T cell biology
  • Solid Hands-on experience with immunological and biochemical methods FACS, PCR, cell culture, cytotoxicity assays, ELISA
  • Strong technical writing skills with industry experience writing technical protocols, reports, and procedures required
  • A working knowledge of manufacturing and/ or testing of cell therapy products and/ or ATMPs is preferred
  • Experience of analytical method qualification/validation is desired
  • Knowledge of quality systems and documentation requirements is a plus
  • Knowledge of compendial analytical methods (Ph. Eur. / USP) is preferred
  • Know-how experimental design and ability to work independently
  • Able to work in a highly flexible environment
  • Able to communicate with team members and cross-functional project teams
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Highly self-motivated and able to motivate others
  • Good English communication skills, both oral and written
