Johnson & Johnson seeks a Category Manager, Global Base Chemicals, located in the Skillman, New Jersey offices of Johnson & Johnson (J&J) or Zug, Switzerland for its consumer business (Self Care – OTC business)! Johnson & Johnson develops and markets Medicines, Devices, and Consumer Products serving patients, healthcare professionals and consumers worldwide. The portfolio of products ranges from branded & generic regulated medicines, medical & surgical devices (all classes), eye-health & ophthalmic products, and consumer personal & self-care products.

Responsibilities
  • Own (global scope) end-2-end strategy development and execution (from business needs to sustained value / spend performance) for assigned sub-categories of spend. Following on from strategies; develop, generate & own pipeline / road map of initiatives driving value including all related to complexity reduction (portfolio or supplier footprint). For Complexity Reduction, the role will partner with procurement, technical partners, and be supported by a designated PMO structure. For sub-categories more regionally dominant, support the Franchise Procurement organizations with key insights, intelligence, and appropriate capabilities.
  • As GSRM, Own, develop, enhance relationships with designated / allotted suppliers, including co-owning (alongside R&D / Partner Enabled Innovation / Development), Joint Strategic Plans / agreements (JSPs) with certain (as allotted) S1 suppliers.
  • Ensure robust supplier management & supply performance management, including (where necessary) lead supply issue resolutions collaborating with procurement colleagues, regional MSM (Material Supply Management), RRT (Rapid Response Teams), and Technical / Quality partners.
  • Own (global) /Co-own (with regions / functions / partners) sub-category specific financial and supply performance targets (cost reductions / avoidance, supplier / portfolio rationalization, reliability, compliance, sustainability)
  • Develop and demonstrate deep expertise in ingredient technologies and the innovations being researched and developed by industry leading &/or preferred suppliers; partner with R&D/PEI/NPD teams to commercialize those with J&J; always focused and cognizant of our “Basket” and Complexity management goals.
  • Participate appropriately, contribute to, lead-where-possible Market Engagement Programs and CIP initiatives
  • Demonstrate appropriate expertise in supply / supplier / market / industry dynamics impacting cost, supply, supplier & spend performance of assigned sub-categories, taking a predictive approach to cost (e.g., by participating in MD’s Cost-Gap-Modeling), reliability, complexity, risk, and innovation.
  • Own assigned / allotted sub-category inputs to the MMF (Market Movement Forecast) process which will be supported with designated forecasting methodology, tools, and analytics support.
  • Other projects and stretch initiatives as defined, scoped, and allocated

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree Required
  • A minimum of 8 years of related experience
  • Demonstrated skills in Strategic Procurement, Sourcing, Category and Supplier Management, preferably in the Supply Chain Environment
  • Experience having worked frequently / daily with technical, supply chain and other functional partners.
  • Strong business and finance acumen, deep understanding of managing for impact in complex matrix environment
  • Proven / demonstrated ability to influence, partner on & shape projects without direct team / authority
  • Ability to engage, interact and negotiate value enhancing relationships with suppliers
  • Experience in complex stakeholder environment; rich influencing skills; understands complexities of regulated industries
  • min. 5 years of relevant professional experience, preferably inside and outside Procurement and in different J&J sectors or industries
  • Relevant degree (e.g. Business, Engineering, Science), preferably complemented by top-notch MBA or other Master’s qualification
