You as a Supplier Quality Engineer, will be part of Power Grids business and based in Sweden, Finland or Norway. You are responsible for applying risk-oriented quality assurance methodologies and corresponding supplier development to ensure Customer satisfaction. Qualify external suppliers of direct materials and services (DM&S). Perform quality surveillance at supplier manufacturing site, to develop the supplier capabilities in order to implement Category strategy and mitigate risks. Monitor supplier performance and lead the supply quality issue resolution.

Your Responsibilities
  • Supplier (company) Qualification: Support the onboarding process of new supplier as requested by SCM, evaluating if initiate the qualification or terminate the onboarding process. Support SCM to initiate the qualification process and to perform the initial risk assessment (desktop assessment), in case of high-risk outcome, plan and conduct the on-site audit to identify gaps and define a corrective action plan. Follow-up and verify the effective implementation of the corrective action plan defined during qualification process. When needed, identify, and put in place a mitigation plan in collaboration with SCM and project team (Project and Site Quality Manager).
  • Monitor and ensure the supply base is and remain fully qualified and in compliance with Power Grids standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Supplier Product Type (MDF) Qualification: Schedule, monitor and approve suppliers for critical product type (MDF). Coordinate closely with other functions/experts from engineering or manufacturing. It typically includes a Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) for product business type, and a manufacturing process capability assessment for project business type.
  • Supplier Quality Issue Resolution and Claims: Lead, review and approve the Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and the Corrective/Preventive action plan submitted by the supplier for top quality issues. In case of RCA required by customer, collaborate with the PQM for a jointly review and approval.
  • Support the SCM and project team to identify and put in place the containment actions for supplier quality issues, like late deliveries, non-conforming products, or project services. For any supplier issue causing an extra cost, support the claim owner (i.e. category manager or local/HUB SCM) to prepare a technical dossier with responsibility analysis for a successful claim negotiation.
  • Supplier Performance Evaluation / Monitoring: Monitor and report supplier performance (KPIs), quality issues, and development actions. Review periodically supplier quality performance (i.e. NC, COTD, COPQ) to identify possible cluster (repetitive defects, top offender suppliers) that could lead to supplier-specific or general improvement initiative in the supply base. In case of cross-functional improvement initiative, collaborate with Quality &CI team to hand over or have the proper support from required functions.
  • Periodical Supplier Assessment (audit) and Development: Plan, perform and report periodical supplier assessments with a risk-based approach. The assessment is performed using established assessment models and when necessary build customized versions. Use Lean6Sigma methodology to identify the causes of poor supplier performance and process capabilities and carry out improvement in collaboration with necessary resources and expertise from supplier and Power Grids. Support the implementation of category strategy both on short and long term. Coach and lead team members involved in the supplier development activities.
  • Process Management & System Development: Work in collaboration with SCM to deploy in local units the supply quality instructions & guidelines established or developed by the Company/BU Supply Quality Team. Support and coach the SCM organization to report properly the supplier quality and on time delivery data, and to ensure information are available in the Supplier Quality Management (SQM) tool for supplier classification by the category teams. Identify and escalate gaps to SCM to ensure each supplier is associated with a right Global Unique Identification (GUID) and supplier data are updated.
  • Project Quality: Lead the analysis and resolution of top and/or recurrent supplier quality issue detected during project execution. Support the Project quality team to carry out mitigation actions at supplier base for quality risk identified in the project (i.e. poor performance of the
  • selected supplier, criticality and/or complexity of customer requirement, lesson learned to be applied, etc.). Lead the execution of inspection activity at supplier premises, not required by customer, as defined in the project quality documentation (i.e. quality control plan). Support the Project quality team in the resolution of quality issue detected during the inspection activity at supplier premises, directly managed by Project quality team.
  • Interface With Other Functions (Bridge between Supplier and Customer) :Collaborate with other functions outside SCM (Quality & Operations, Sustain-ability/HSE, R&D/Engineering, Tender teams, among others) by representing the “Voice of Supplier” to them (i.e. proposal to change requirement difficult to meet or make them clearer, collect from supply base main pain points for sustainability initiatives). Represents “Voice of Customer” to supplier.

Your background
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Quality area, in the field of Power Projects / Substations / EPC/ Automotive.
  • Must be fluent in Norwegian, Finnish or Swedish and additionally English.
