In the role of the Sustainability Specialist you will be the location contact for sustainability at our power semiconductor plant at Lenzburg / Switzerland and will be an essential player in our team of HSE experts. Our high-tech manufacturing and complex operating facilities offer a challenging and highly motivating workplace. Scope of the role

  • Drive the implementation of the Hitachi Sustainability Strategy 2030 as main contact at Semiconductors (Lenzburg / CH).
  • Lead and guide the local sustainability team to identify and implement improvement projects
  • Engage, educate and support all stakeholders and functions to drive their sustainability goals
  • At Hitachi Energy Corporate and Business Unit level, closely work with the Sustainability teams to share and deploy Sustainability programs, initiatives and best practices and drive further development
  • Local contact for Sustainability agreements with Swiss authorities, transportation of dangerous goods and “Chemie Ansprechperson” according to Swiss legislation
  • Ensure compliance to legal environmental requirements as well as the ISO 14001 standard and the energy management aligned to ISO 50001
  • Support the HSE Manager and the internal functions to ensure Safety onsite
  • Train our employees in chemical safety topics and waste management
  • Contribute to effective risk management of environmental-related risks and opportunities
  • Report on progress of Sustainability objectives and environmental data (waste, energy, water, wastewater, etc.) to Business Unit and Corporate.

Your background

  • University degree (Bachelor or Master) in chemistry / chemical engineering or similar
  • Alternatively university degree (Bachelor or Master) environmental science / environmental engineering or similar with solid applied knowledge in chemistry
  • 1-2+ years of experience/relevant internships in the field of sustainability or HSE
  • Demonstrable and active interest in sustainability and motivation to develop further in this field
  • Strong communicator with motivating nature and the ability to adjust communication to all levels and functions within the organization and beyond
  • Ability to influence and guide stakeholders and deduct suitable actions from an overall strategy
  • Experience as dangerous goods advisor is beneficial
  • Occupational health and safety education is a plus
  • Internal Auditor ISO 14001 and ISO 50001 is a plus
  • Ability to deal with complexity, temporary workload and ambiguity
  • Proactive, practical and systematic way of working and acting
  • Fluent in both German (C1) and in English (C1)
