As a Team Leader Automotive Product Development at u-blox you are responsible for a software team in charge of develop, integrate and release positioning receiver automotive product.
You lead the team in designing, documenting, implementing and verifying of SW parts of our global navigation satellite system receiver firmware and assure that they meet the market needs.
To achieve the high expectation from the markets, your team is supported by the internal HW design team, test and verification team, the application engineering team, as well as our GNSS platform development team.
As a team leader, you will be responsible for line management duties like hiring, process definitions, guidelines, coaching and team member support.
There will be occasional travel within Europe.

Your Responsibilities

  • Lead a multi-site team of highly motivated engineers responsible for:
    • Drive the product specification and clarify market needs with stakeholders
    • Cooperate with Product Owner to define priority over product features based on market inputs
    • Developing FW for positioning products
    • Integration of GNSS algorithms
    • Verification of product functionality matching market requirements
    • Analyzing feedback or nonconformities, provide workarounds or developing bug fixes
    • Ensure that non FW related aspects of the product (documentation, HW, support tools) are taken into consideration, with the help of representative of other teams in u-blox development department
    • Engage with Automotive Lead customers, in coordination with the Product Managers, to define new features and support customers in designing the system in the best way.

    • Enable and maintain efficient communications within the team and to other teams participating in cross-team projects
    • Establish best practices and processes to maintain and improve effectiveness and efficiency in platform development
    • Resolve conflicts, support team members.
    • Hiring Software developers with the adequate competencies.

Qualifications

  • Degree in electrical engineering, computer science, robotics, or equivalent education.
  • Deep knowledge in embedded system development (C/C++ programming language, debugging, testing, continuous integration).
  • More than 2 years of experience as SW team leader.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Team player with the ability to work independently within broader project teams and a can-do attitude.
  • Flexible and able to travel regularly to other sites and locations, especially during the rump up of the team competencies.
  • Fluent in English (spoken and written)

Bonus points for experience in:
  • Version control software (Git, SVN, etc.).
  • Scripting languages (e.g. Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Evidence of coding skills (e.g. GitHub projects).
  • Experience in product development and delivery
  • Knowledge in GNSS technology
    • Including Sensor Fusion and Dead Reckoning navigation
  • Experience of working in an agile development environment
