ABOUT THE JOB

Job purpose

The purpose of this role is to assist the Lead Business Analyst in managing and controlling :

  • the effective implementation of underwriting governance and controls;

  • co-ordination of the underwriting business planning process;

  • develop and maintain information reports


This is where you come in :

Governance & Control

  • Assist Lead Business Analyst with the coordination of the underwriting controls and compliance in Zurich ensuring that;

  • The Underwriting Control Framework is consistently and effectively implemented and followed.

  • Underwriting activity is happening in accordance with the MS Amlin Policies/Standards, relevant regulatory and legal requirements and challenge areas of non-compliance.

  • Underwriters are operating within their authority levels and that any breaches are addressed appropriately.

  • Reviewing and escalating requested exceptions to the Zurich Line Guide.

  • Assist with implementing Zurich Line Guide change requests and liaising with the Head of Underwriting Management & Controls for approval.

  • Underwriting processes and controls are documented and effectively communicated.

  • Produce housekeeping reports and monitor as required, including reports to enhance the quality of the information held in our systems.

Planning & Reforecasting

  • Assist Lead Business Analyst with the production of the MS AAG Underwriting Business Plan and quarterly reforecasts ensuring that:

  • Arrange business planning meetings and prepare supporting reports for discussions with class underwriters.

  • Assist with the preparation regarding business plan papers for discussion with class underwriters and presentation to senior management and review team.

  • Upload the business plan data to Cognos.

  • Maintain Audit Trail of discussions and changes to business plan and reforecasting numbers.

  • Monitor performance for Zurich business (income, rate movement and losses) on a monthly basis against business plans / reforecasts. Liaise with relevant underwriters to provide commentaries on variances and market conditions.

Business Analysis & MI

  • Production of standard reports for monthly Underwriting Meetings.

  • Production of agenda with assistance from Lead Business Analyst.

  • Production of packs for meetings with distribution to Underwriters.

  • Suggest improvements to existing processes.

  • Produce and maintain underwriting reports for the AAG Board as required.

Exposure Management

  • Assist with co-ordinating the quarterly RDS process and ensure that a consistent approach is followed.

  • Liaise with underwriters and ensure that RDS figures are provided in a timely manner and that the processes adopted are robust.

  • Assist with the production regarding the regional Major Event Response process.

Reserving

  • Arrange quarterly reserving meetings and prepare required information for discussion with class underwriters including production of required reports from MI Tools.

  • Provide any necessary assistance to actuarial and finance departments in the actuarial led reserve process.
