The job holder will be responsible for the operational management and execution of the International transportation and “HUB” Service activities (Primary Distribution), over the entire Idorsia’s drug product portfolio of the various therapeutic areas, as well as relating to the CMO (Contract Manufacturing Operations) supply, both for drug substance and for drug product dimensions. The role will ensure the effectiveness of the associated (and potentially differentiated) International Transportation (all modes) and HUB solutions, necessary to support the various business requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Project lead and operational management of the International Transport and related HUB services to optimize service and reduce costs
  • Selection and due diligence for 3PL’s and coordination of the cross functional team for qualification and implementation of new service providers
  • Management of contractual agreements and SLA (Service level Agreements) for 3PL’s
  • Ensuring high activity-based performance level of the International Transport and HUB services at competitive costs
  • Ensuring process and execution in adherence to GxP (GDP, GMP, etc.) requirements, as well as QMS and HSE policies at Idorsia
  • Management of the seamless implementation and execution of Global Supply chain W&D strategies and tactics across all regions to meet objectives
  • Support partnership strategy of Global Supply Chain W&D, with Global and/or Regional Transport partners, airlines, steam shipping lines but also with transport equipment companies aligned with long term strategy, and enabling continuous quality, efficiency, business continuity risk mitigation, and cost as productivity improvements
  • Responsible for the performance and adherence of third-party services based on KPIs established within SLA’s (Service Level Agreement) defined with the relevant Global SCM stakeholders
  • Responsible for all coordination activities related to inventory management with 3PL HUB service partner and is the Idorsia business owner of the Inventory Reconciliation process as well as managing any stock adjustments in the Idorsia system

Candidate Requirements

  • BA/BS required, Master’s degree preferred
  • ADR Certificates and/or IATA certification are an asset
  • Minimum 7+ years professional experience within International Transport and Warehousing (HUB services) processes in Healthcare and Pharmaceutical industry
  • Excellent understanding and experience of the Pharma industry, business, supply chain and Transport operations within GxP (GDP, GMP, etc.) requirement environment, (Medical Device is an asset)
  • Robust understanding and demonstrated experience from a functional perspective of the 3PL technical integrations and how they work together across IM and Logistics
  • Fully familiarized with International Transport Operations management and execution, with piloting of their activity based and transactional
  • Significant experience directly managing logistics for CMO shipments including selection of freight forwarder and selection of appropriate partner in varying circumstances
  • Profound experience about the usage of transport equipment such as active and passive air freight containers as well as the implementation and usage of temperature logger systems and for both areas a deep knowledge and understanding of those industries
  • Deep knowledge in International Transport, including Selection (RFP), Contract management, and relation with 3rd Party logistics providers (3PL) and Transporters operating at Global and Regional levels
  • Negotiation experience with 3rd Party Logistics providers in a Regional role or a Global role. Strong experience leading 3PL contractual process to completion
  • Excellent functional SAP understanding and experience, to ensure reflection of all International Transportation, CMO, and Chemical material movements and experience of operating within SAP (R3 or S4H) system environment
  • Good understanding of SAP structure, process, and main transactional relating to International Transport and HUB operations, (mainly TM and MM modules) and Master Data Management linked to Customer Master, Supplier Master, and Item Master Data
  • Understanding the functional as well as business environment, and able to have in depth comprehension of products, financial, physical, trade and transactional flows of Single Principal model Pharmaceutical/Medical Devices
  • Clear perspective on how the SLA is governed and executed, and what KPI’s should input into it, as well as agility to demonstrate and negotiate it with third party logistics
  • Cross-Cultural Resourcefulness-Ability and Agility to work in a complex matrix environment whilst respecting cultural differences
  • Excellent English knowledge written and spoken (German and/or French is an asset)
