About the role

The role is within the P&C Reinsurance Business Unit in the Global Specialty Division. You will be based in Zurich.
Your focus will be on all Aviation Treaty underwriting related matters and will be involved in supporting underwriters with a perspective in developing your skills to thrive as an Underwriter.
As a new member of our team, you will be trained on treaty matters with the aim to develop the skill sets over time to take on client responsibility within the given remit. You will contribute to the growth and profitability of our book, and you will also be working with numerous partners across the globe (brokers, clients, internal stakeholders) and will eventually play a meaningful role in meetings and interactions with our brokers and clients and will build your own network in the market.
You will be performing a variety of functions including, but not limited to:
Carrying out technical assessment, costing and reviewing reinsurance terms and conditions
Supporting Underwriters in evaluating risks and writing profitable new and renewal business to meet Line of Business targets. We expect you to contribute to the execution of our strategy, collaborating across teams as well as function within Specialty
Completion of all underwriting processes and ensure business workflows are maintained
Ensuring compliance with all internal guidelines, underwriting and pricing parameters, best practices as well as Code of Conduct
You will eventually play a meaningful role in meetings and interactions with our brokers and clients and will build your own network in the market
About the team
We are a highly experienced team of 10, located in Zurich and Munich. Our team includes actuaries and underwriters who work with client managers, risk managers, claims experts, etc. We underwrite a Worldwide book of Aviation and Space reinsurance business. You will join a collaborative environment consisting of a versatile and international underwriting team. Our clients are based all over the world and the interactions are typically done via Brokers but also on a direct basis. This is a great opportunity to join a unique specialty line of business, and dedicated group of professionals.
About you
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Business, Economics, Law or Mathematics
Excellent oral and written English and Spanish a must; additional language skills advantageous
Basic knowledge of Reinsurance and/or primary insurance. Specific expertise in Aviation is advantageous
Knowledge of treaty reinsurance costing a plus
Contractual knowledge of (re-)insurance wordings is advantageous
You demonstrate strong analytical skills and can focus on details without losing track of the bigger picture
Strong desire and ability to work in a flexible working environment in virtual, multi-national, multi-cultural, cross-company and cross-functional teams and to be ready to travel, if required
Well organized, able to define priorities and you are committed to achieve high quality results on time
Consultative selling and negotiation skills
Comfortable in presenting your work and arguments in front of stakeholders
Strong work ethic and desire to grow professionally
