Position OverviewThe Climate Risk Center (CRC) is looking for a highly motivated and data-affine individual with an interest in climate change to become part of the data lifecycle team and help us further develop our data quality control framework within a 6-month internship.MSCI ESG Research offers various climate data sets that help our clients with their investment decisions. Due to the increasing volume and frequency of our data releases, our ability to effectively monitor and understand data changes is becoming more and more important.In this role, you will expand our data monitoring capabilities and contribute to increased automation and effectiveness of our data production processes. You will do so as part of the data lifecycle team, collaborating closely with many stakeholders across the CRC.Your Key Responsibilities
  • Pro-actively engage with members of ESG research to understand and prioritize the needs for automated and semi-automated data quality control code and tools
  • Based on in-depth data analysis and in collaboration with research, developing algorithms to track, attribute and categorize data changes
  • Implementing these algorithms in our Python codebase, while adhering to our code quality standards
  • Managing your projects; communicating with internal stakeholders, pro-actively collecting and acting on feedback, documenting of processes and results
  • Contributing to content that can be shared both internally and with clients
Your Skills That Will Help You Excel
  • MSc. in a quantitative discipline (natural sciences, engineering, or another relevant field)
  • Excellent analytical and coding skills (Python), familiarity with data science techniques and tools (Jupyter, pandas) in addition to good MS Office skills
  • Familiarity with PowerBI is nice to have
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, and a structured and independent way of working
  • Very good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Highly motivated with a strong desire to learn and being part of an international and dynamic environment
