About the role
The Data Engineer plays a crucial role in providing Data Platform, Framework, Guidance and Support to multiple Projects and stakeholders. They will design, develop, and maintain data ingestion pipelines with a Cloud Approach. Contribute to innovation in the Data Engineering, Analytics and data science areas and work to agile principles.
Your responsibilities
  • Ensuring effective ingestion of data and responding to any issues
  • Providing a data platform for various stakeholders in the business including data scientists, report developers, business users. Ensuring Security of the platform. Ensure data is of high quality
  • Managing Compute and the Costs associated with the platform
  • Optimization and cost saving
  • Developing effective data models in alignment with company strategy
  • Collaboration with business and project analysts
  • Adept in agile principles and work within a DevOps-driven environment
  • Participate in Projects, communicating data strategy and assisting in delivery of the data and data integration components of projects
Your profile
  • Very good understanding of SQL language, data transformation and modelling, Kimball using tools like dbt
  • Good business understanding, particularly reinsurance
  • Good knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure, AWS etc)
  • Good knowledge of tools associated with data ingestion such as Data Factory or other cloud “ETL” tools
  • Certifications or experience on Cloud Platforms, ideally Azure and on Cloud Data Platforms, ideally Databricks (or snowflake, synapse, fabric, google)
  • Third level diploma or degree in a Software / Data / Engineering or other related (or business or other) discipline
  • Any certifications or courses in python or other languages
  • DevOps, git, agile certifications
Nice to have:
  • Data Science tools: Python libraries, R
  • Understanding of containerization, microservices
  • Software development experience in .net is desirable
  • Experience or familiarity with messaging systems such as Service Bus, Kafka or other integration messaging platforms is good to have
