To reinforce our R&D Team in Ecublens, Vaud, we are looking for an Electrical Engineer.
Position Summary
DJO’s Recovery Sciences business is the leading global provider of high-quality clinical equipment for rehabilitation and pain management used by physical therapists, occupational therapists, athletic trainers, and chiropractors.To improve our position even further, Recovery Sciences is focused on accelerating the pace of new product development and better integrating our global product offering to meet the changing needs of clinicians. Recovery Sciences R&D supports the Chattanooga, Compex, LightForce and Companion brands.
The Electrical Engineer will work with a high performing product development team to extend our current product offering with innovative hardware solutions.This role will be specifically focused on developing hardware solutions for neuromuscular electrical stimulation, ultrasound, laser, and mechanical traction devices.
Essential Functions
  • Develop, implement and verify microcontroller-based hardware (mixed digital/analog design) for medical devices dedicated to professional (Chattanooga, Lightforce), consumer (Compex) or veterinarian (Companion) markets.
  • Maintain existing hardware platforms for electro-therapy products
  • Assist Senior Engineers for the conception of new system architectures
  • Contribute to new product development project success in a multidisciplinary, international team
  • Demonstrate an understanding of design control requirements for medical devices and navigate the product development process to release successful products to the market
  • Work for elegant, subtle, innovative, cost effective and reliable solutions
Collaborate with internal (quality, regulatory, supply, etc.) and external partners (EMC/safety labs, manufacturers, design partners, suppliers)
Qualifications
Education/Degree/Field
  • Bachelor or Master diploma (HES, EPF or equivalent) in industrial electronics
  • 5 to 10 years industrial experience in embedded solutions, preferably in the Medical Device Industry or another highly regulated environment
  • Autonomous in electrical design activities (simulation, calculations, schematics, PCB layout, EMC testing and certification, verification and validation)
  • DFM & DFT approach - Design for manufacturing and Testing (ease manufacturing and test processes)
  • Risk based design approach (DFMEA, MTBF)
  • Ability to work under strong timing and performance pressure
  • Strong team spirit and ability to evolve in an international and multi-cultural environment
Role-driven Skills/Competencies/Knowledge
  • Fluent in English and French (both written and spoken)
  • Motivation and interest to work in the highly regulated medical devices world
  • Valid permit to work in Switzerland
  • Additional beneficial skills:
    • Experience in Altium Designer
    • Experience in battery powered designs with limited resources (battery, processor power, space and costs)
    • Experience with DC/DC switching power supply design
    • Experience in a challenged market (COGS sensitivity)
