Research Scientist, Mobile Vision AI (PhD)

The Mobile Vision team is seeking world-class computer vision experts to join the team in developing next generation products and platforms doing research and engineering at scale. Our mission is to advance the state-of-the-art in computer vision algorithms for on-device computer vision. In this role, you will be working on efficient deep learning algorithms for computer vision and models which are leveraged by product development teams throughout the Meta family of applications. Our work is critical to delivering new computer vision based research and applications to our 2 billion+ users. The research topics of interest include, but are not limited to, generative methods (such as GANs, photorealistic rendering), deep learning model optimization (such as pruning, quantization and neural architecture search), semantic understanding (such as object detection and pose estimation, video summarization), 3D geometry understanding (such as deep local features), and human understanding (such as human body pose estimation, action recognition).

Research Scientist, Mobile Vision AI (PhD) Responsibilities:

• Lead research to advance the science and technology of computer vision algorithms in areas such as generative methods, deep learning model optimization, semantic understanding, 3D geometry understanding, human understanding, and more.
• Work towards long-term ambitious research goals, while identifying intermediate milestones.
• Collaborate with other researchers and engineers across teams at Meta to develop experiments, prototypes, and concepts that advance the state of the art in AR/VR systems.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Understanding of Machine Learning concepts such as few shot learning, domain adaptation and depth estimation, Neural Architecture Search.
• 3+ years of experience with Python and/or C++ programming languages.
• Experience working with PyTorch or TensorFlow.
• Experience in developing interactive solutions for computer vision, natural language processing, or computer graphics.
• Must obtain work authorization in country of employment at the time of hire and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Currently has or is in the process of obtaining a PhD degree in the field of Computer Science relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as CVPR, NIPS, ECCV, ICCV, ICLR.
• Experience with Machine Learning Principles such as Deep Learning, Computer Vision.
• Demonstrated software engineer experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
• Experience designing data collection protocols and quality control.
