The PFP Individual Giving section based in Geneva is a lead participant in the Supporter Engagement Strategy (SES), which aims to increase the global acquisition and engagement of UNICEF’s diverse supporter base, including donors, advocates, and volunteers. A key part of the strategy is to replace incumbent CRM systems currently in place in 21 country offices with Salesforce-based technology.

For every child, a Champion

The business process and systems support officer will support markets in the implementation of Salesforce technology from a business point of view, ensuring that new platforms are optimized for individual giving fundraising performance and standards. Additionally, he/she will support the success of solution for UNICEF offices that have gone live by escalating and prioritizing bug fixes and enhancements. The role will require close collaboration with markets, to understand and document the current state (as is) business processes, and identify opportunities to simplify, streamline and standardize the future (to be) processes working with the overriding aim of im-proving IG fundraising performance in the short and long term.

In addition to understanding and documenting processes and requirements, the business pro-cess and systems specialist will support delivery by working closely with SES implementation partners and participating in an Agile based development framework supporting design, testing, training, go live support and documentation functions.

To deliver Salesforce efficiently, with an ambitious timeline, a regional strategy has been adopted. The business process and systems support specialist will be the focal point for business implementation of Salesforce for all markets in Europe as well as providing operational support to the global Instance of Salesforce (Virtual Hub).

At the point of hand over from the implementation team, the business process and systems specialist will be responsible for continuation of ‘business as usual’, which includes: further re-fining business processes for maximum efficiency, prioritizing bugs or enhancement requests, data hygiene and standardization, maintaining discipline to required coding standards and re-porting mechanisms, identifying new opportunities to add to the CORE UNICEF system, and ensuring that each office maintains a clear plan for further development of the system.

Summary Of Key Functions/accountabilities
  • Analyze all current fundraising business processes in markets (including virtual hub) and document with process maps and user stories.
  • Help to manage the Agile development process by story prioritization, sprint planning, back-log grooming etc.
  • Works closely with the Individual Giving (IG) team by propagating standards, processes, frameworks, and best practices while informing them of challenges, and opportunities directly from markets.
  • Guide country offices to ensure they are at the correct stage of readiness for implementation by helping with resource planning, technology solutions or recommendations, and project timeline and process awareness.
  • Work with implementing countries, and local partners to provide a viable solution to business requirements with CORE products and localization efforts.
  • Identify ancillary systems used and required in the end-to-end fundraising process, identifying opportunities for business uplift and streamlining processes where possible, with a broader view of standardization and compliance.
  • Understand the technological solution (sales cloud and to some extent marketing cloud in relation to data points, segmentation, and sync between both systems) in terms of standard salesforce, non-profit success pack, core packages, configuration, customization, and integrations with a view to recommending product enhancements and future improvements.
  • Help offices with initial implementation / go live / post go live by providing oversight, support, and guidance on both business and technical aspects. (This will require travel to various office locations globally, COVID-19 considerations withstanding.)
  • In close collaboration with the Individual Giving team, support the making of business decisions from a fundraising and supporter experience and satisfaction viewpoints, taking cost and ROI into consideration to make recommendations to Business and Product owners where appropriate.
  • Working with Business owners, provide readiness checklists and functionality prioritization for go live for offices undergoing implementation.
  • Contribute to the development and review of assets for the SES Deployment Suite, and guidance to countries as needed.
  • Help to ensure offices use the system as it was designed, maintaining data hygiene, data standardization, coding structures, campaign hierarchies, and related business processes at all times.
  • Support the development of supporter journeys through updating them and performing tests in collaboration with each office.
  • Advise markets on ongoing data analytics workstreams such as rich data metrics and dashboards.
  • Identify opportunities to update/upgrade systems and platforms and develop the business case for doing so.
  • Support the making of business decisions from a fundraising, supporter experience and satisfaction viewpoints, taking cost and ROI into consideration to make recommendations to business and product owners where appropriate.
  • Manage a clear plan for each office in the region for the development of the system and ensure that resources are available for delivery.
Deliverables
  • Author a comprehensive set of business requirements for country offices in the form of user stories.
  • Understand and categorise user requirements into global and localised core functionality.
  • Ensure global instance of Salesforce (Virtual Hub) is running effectively, and work with Technical colleagues to further develop and enhance functionality.
  • Provide support to regional Business Analysts (EAP and LAC).
  • Provide inputs into solution design taking global and localised requirements into account.
  • Ensure that offices adhere to standards by working closely with them and supporting any business process, or system changes required
  • Research and recommend payment solutions in local market based on business and technical considerations and limitations.
  • Provide support to local offices before, during and after go-live, ensuring a successful implementation.
  • Ensure that each UNICEF office using the SES platform as effectively as possible, in a compliant fashion and optimised for fundraising performance.
  • Develop and disseminate standards and best practices for use of the system.
  • Ensure that the continuous improvement in the use of the system directly translates to an ongoing business performance uplift.

Education
  • An advanced university degree in management information systems, computer science, business administration, information technology management, or other related social science field is required.
  • Alternative, a first-level University Degree in a relevant field combined with two additional years of qualifying professional experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree
Experience
  • A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required.
  • A minimum of at least two years’ experience in Salesforce (Sales and marketing cloud) or fund-raising (especially individual giving processes along with transaction / income processing),
  • Experience in writing business requirements, process design, analytical skills (e.g., using stories and working closely with developers in AGILE environment), and providing support services, technical assistance, and customer care would be considered as an advantage.
  • Experience with UN/UNICEF will be an asset.
Others
  • Excellent communication skills, (both written and oral) to translate complicated business requirements into technical-based language, and vice versa.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving mindset.
Language Requirement
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Fluency in a language from the ECA regions is also an advantage.

Remarks

UNICEF PFP-Geneva is currently reviewing organizational changes; therefore, the successful candidates may be asked to commence duties remotely, and they may later be asked to relocate and be assigned to the final post-duty station/location in Berlin.

UNICEF appointments are subject to medical clearance.  Issuance of a visa by the host country of the duty station, which will be facilitated by UNICEF, is required for IP positions. Appointments may also be subject to inoculation (vaccination) requirements, including against SARS-CoV-2 (Covid). Government employees that are considered for employment with UNICEF are normally required to resign from their government before taking up an assignment with UNICEF. UNICEF reserves the right to withdraw an offer of appointment, without compensation, if a visa or medical clearance is not obtained, or necessary inoculation requirements are not met, within a reasonable period for any reason.
