Global DevOps Lead, Commercial & Medical IT

The Global DevOps Lead owns the global accountability for the agile application Development, Operations and support of all IT platforms used across Commercial and Medical in all Biogen Regions and Business Units. As this role is accountable for the end-to-end service quality the ability to orchestrate and collaborate with multiple internal and external teams (Internal Delivery Teams, Managed Service Providers, Global CE&O (Quentin Lepont), Regional CE&O Groups across USO/BIR/ECP, International IT) is an integral part of this role. This role ensures business and technical continuity by upgrading, replacing or retiring systems in line with business imperatives.

What You’ll Do:

• Translating / Strategic Planning: Understand business function’s strategy and effectively translate strategy into opportunities and requirements for technology solutions. Develop platform roadmaps that are aligned with function’s strategy and priorities.
• Integrating / Advocating: Integrate roadmaps developed by other enabling IT functions with business partners to align IT capabilities with functional demand for IT services. Advocate for partners with IT colleagues as needed/appropriate. In turn, drive awareness and adoption of IT initiatives and changes driven by all IT organizations – including IT functional portfolios and foundational organizations (I&O, CISO, DEA, PBO).
• . Program Management: Leads highly complex Programs and ensure alignment on all Program / project details: objectives, scope, approach, deliverables, financials, schedule, dependencies and risks.
• Team Building/Leading: Confidently build and lead global teams by cascading relevant information, aligning activities with IT strategy and priorities, fostering teamwork and collaboration, sharing and listening to ideas, and effectively positioning and driving teams to perform at a high level.

Who You Are:

The role is critical to help Biogen advance its key signature initiatives across Commercial & Medical. (HCP Engagement, Patient Engagement, Launch Readiness, Get2Green, Real World Evidence). This role will be accountable to direct the strategic direction, governance, analysis, and delivery of the Commercial and Medical IT application portfolio and will lead, motivate and inspire a global team of talented colleagues who design solutions and ensure execution on-time and with quality through our DevOps framework.

Required Skills:

• A Master’s degree in Information Technology, an MBA, or other relevant advanced degree is preferred. Equivalent experience will also be considered.
• Pharma/Biotech experience, preferably within Commercial or Medical functions
• Proven leadership and management skills
• Process-oriented with very strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Experience managing geographically distributed teams and budgets >$10M/year
• Experience with large scale unified application development and maintenance optimization programs
• Financial discipline and a sense of accountability for deliverables in line with the agreed operating model
• Works well under pressure and with minimal supervision
• Ability to manage shifting priorities, demands, and timelines
• Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
