Are you ready to embark on a journey into the dynamic world of reinsurance and its life and health transactions? Are you currently pursuing an actuarial graduate degree and do you have a passion for problem-solving and effective communication? If so, we have an exciting internship opportunity for you, during your master’s degree,in Life and Health Structured Solutions!


The engagement period is planned to last three to six months starting February- March 2024.


About the Internship


Your primary responsibility in this role will be helping drive the European transaction success story.


This includes:

  • Together with your graduate degree, produce a master thesis on a specific topic with deep actuarial insides which will bring value to the business.
  • Support the team in transactions execution success, via actuarial modelling support or project management.
  • Collaborate with a cross-disciplinary team including client markets, actuaries, and business development.

About the Team


You will join the diverse and knowledgeable team Life and Health Structured Solution (LHSS), which is part of L&H Reinsurance and has several core functions:

  • We provide structured reinsurance & capital management solutions to L&H clients.
  • We assume life insurance risk in non-traditional formats.

The global team is comprised of over 30 professionals located in Zurich, London, New York, and Hong Kong. While the majority are actuaries, a wide variety of professional backgrounds are represented.


You might work with colleagues in many different areas, in particular Client Markets, Financial Market Team, Business Development, and the different L&H teams throughout EMEA.


About You


You consider yourself as a brilliant critical thinker and detailed oriented, with a team collaboration spirit. You are currently working to get an actuarial qualification (master’s degree) and are an enthusiast for the reinsurance industry.


  • Strong communicationand interpersonal
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in English (spoken and written). Other European languages would be a plus.

Nice to have:

  • Understanding of embedded value and IFRS, as well as risk-based capital and solvency II frameworks
  • Some familiarity with financial market risk, background in asset management
  • Experience in cash flow modeling or stochastic modeling
