Purpose of role

The Onboarding team provides Operational middle and back office support to Barclays Intermediaries and Corporate (BIIC) and Barclays Private Bank (BPB) from all the locations for which Geneva is the booking center. The role holder will be responsible for delivering an excellent internal and external client experience for the OnBoarding function by consistently applying Anti-Money Laundering and Client Due Diligence (CDD) Policies and Procedure and the Swiss regulatory requirements. The maintenance of existing clients records and amendments is also part of the role, as well as an excellent advisory and support to our clients.

Core accountabilities

Operational Performance and Service Management

The role holder will be responsible to review and assess new client on-boarding requests received on the platform, including the creation of the client record within the relevant internal database and document management system, review and sign off.

The role holder should expect to see varying levels of complexity within each application, with the client types ranging from individuals, companies, trusts, partnerships and charities. Some of these may be complex in structure.

Additionally, the role holder will have the responsibility to review and assess complex amendments to existing client records, as well as for the administrative work related to the task.

Client Focus

The role holder will be required to clearly communicate with the Private Banker and/or Private Banking Executives when reporting deficiencies found to allow the Private Banker to promptly resolve and return the required information/documentation so that Barclays clients are not disadvantaged in any way. The role holder will have to support and advise the business in terms of account openings area but also in other areas impacting the function.

Teamwork and Communication

There will be a need for the role holder to regularly liaise with the Onboarding team members and supervisor to highlight and address any areas of concern and/or identify and improve process efficiencies consistently. The role holder will also act as a back-up of the other members of the team.

Provide Effective Control & Risk Management

The role holder will ensure their own skills & training are fully compliant & keep up to date with changes to the current Onboarding Policy and Procedures and will assist with the maintenance of team procedures. It will be the responsibility of the role holder to escalate any suspected events immediately to the supervisor. He will also generate accurate and timely Management Information and assist with pre-audit preparation, ensuring that any recommendations are implemented.

Change

The role holder will contribute to change projects ensuring they are delivered in a timely manner and with a positive impact, especially with the current projects undertaken by the Bank.

Role requirements

Professional/technical Experience

The right candidate will ideally have previous relevant experience in financial services in the same position and a strong awareness of CDB and Swiss legal AML requirements. He will also have the knowledge of the KYC and its application as well as strong knowledge of the current environment (FATCA, Cross border & Sanctions).

In addition excellent PC skills, including the ability to analyse and interpret data using Word, Access and Excel is required. Experience in Banking Operations systems such as Avaloq would be beneficial.

Managerial Experience

No managerial experience required.

Academic And Professional Qualifications

It is desirable that the right candidate will be educated to a minimum of higher grade level or equivalent, possess experience within the financial services industry in the same position.

Language Skills

It is desirable that the candidate has strong knowledge of English and French language.

The right candidate will be passionate, energetic, driven and results orientated. He will have to demonstrate the ability to work under pressure and the ability to analyse information, research possible options and provide logical recommendations. They will posses excellent interpersonal skills including influencing and effective networking.
