Today, Lonza is a global leader in life sciences operating across three continents. While we work in science, there’s no magic formula to how we do it. Our greatest scientific solution is talented people working together, devising ideas that help businesses to help people. In exchange, we let our people own their careers. Their ideas, big and small, genuinely improve the world. And that’s the kind of work we want to be part of.
As a member of the Microbial Research & Development team you support our growing organization by contributing to the development and implementation of various methods in our laboratories. These include strain development and cultivation of bacteria and yeast cells as well as purification studies and analytical techniques. You are enthusiastic about innovation and new technologies and ready to deal with the changing needs of the projects. You work in a flexible, independent and accurate way and take over the responsibility for the exact execution and documentation of the experiments. You have finalized a professional training as Lab Technician (or comparable) and have ideally already gained experience in the fields of molecular biology, fermentation or analytics. In case of a higher experience level the position can be adapted adequately. Team spirit, motivation and willingness to learn complete your profile.
Key responsibilities:
Schedule and execute experiments in the areas of microbial strain construction, cultivation and primary recovery as well as purification at laboratory scale
Implement and execute biological, biochemical and chromatographic analysis techniques
Analyze and document experiments as well as present them within the team
Take responsibility for routine laboratory tasks in coordination with team members
Document methods, data and analyses accurately
Key requirements:
Completed training as a biology lab technician or a comparable qualification (e.g. Bachelor)
Hands-on laboratory experience in the field of bioprocessing. Experience in molecular biology, purification and/or bioanalytics is considered a plus
Team spirit, initiative and willingness to learn
Good communication skills in English complete your profile
Every day, Lonza’s products and services have a positive impact on millions of people. For us, this is not only a great privilege, but also a great responsibility. How we achieve our business results is just as important as the achievements themselves. At Lonza, we respect and protect our people and our environment. Any success we achieve is no success at all if not achieved ethically.
People come to Lonza for the challenge and creativity of solving complex problems and developing new ideas in life sciences. In return, we offer the satisfaction that comes with improving lives all around the world. The satisfaction that comes with making a meaningful difference.
