The Forum is building world-leading digital collaboration platforms, knowledge and data tools, and digital event experiences for our constituents. To support this development, we are looking for a qualified engineering deputy lead to take responsibility for our mobile platform, which span iOS, Android, and work with our teams of engineers, designers and product managers to help bring digital products and features from conception to launch and beyond.
The Mobile Engineering Deputy Lead will bring strong technical acumen, supporting fellow product managers to deliver cutting-edge services to drive online engagement with Forum Members and constituents, and deliver on the organization’s strategic vision to provide digital products that are recognized as best in the industry. Exceptionally clear documentation and communication skills, capacity to take impactful decisions on the technology roadmap and the ability to thrive flexibly within a complex organization are necessary.
Duties and Responsibilities
  • As the deputy lead, you’ll be reporting to the Lead and assisting them in ensuring high quality mobile applications delivery in alignement with the design strategy and roadmap.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers and product managers to plan and prioritise tasks ensuring alignment with overall business strategies and platform design principles
  • Serve as a technical lead and coach for mobile engineers, advocating for best practices, fostering a culture of continuous learning, and emphasizing user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design principles.
  • Identify and evaluate new technologies and innovations for alignment with the technology roadmap, business value, and security requirements.
  • Develop a strong point of view on what makes Forum products differentiated, both functionally and technically
  • Develop and maintain documentation for the mobile systems, and provide efficient troubleshooting and technical support when needed.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Broad intellectual background with a university-level education in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
  • Fluency in English, with excellent written, digital and verbal communication skills
  • Proven experience (5+ years) in mobile application development with a strong portfolio of successful projects, that includes both Android and iOS platforms
  • Experience deploying and managing applications lifecycles on Apple Store and Google Play stores; references to be provided
  • Experience working closely with engineering delivery teams and following a structured development process, preferably in an Agile environment
  • Design experience including mock-ups and rapid prototyping for mobile-first interfaces with in-depth knowledge of UX and UI design principles. Experience with Figma is a plus
  • Familiarity with programming languages in the mobile space (stack: Swift/SwiftUI, Kotlin/Compose) and/or scripting languages, a plus
  • Good understanding of modern services-oriented infrastructure; familiarity with micro-services concepts is a plus
  • Valuable team player, challenging and analytical spirit with a willingness to learn
