CDD position for 2 years in Neuchâtel

Lithium niobate on insulator (LNOI) is one of the new promising materials for photonics integrated circuits (PICs) that offers unique set of interesting optical properties such as: a high electro-optic (EO) coefficient, high intrinsic 2nd and 3rd order nonlinearities, and a large transparency window (350 nm - 5500nm). LNOI platform can serve many applications such as telecom, LiDAR, quantum computing and quantum technologies, sensing, spectroscopy, and optical signal processing to name a few.

Your mission

You will be be a part of a R&D team currently developing a generic PIC platform based on LNOI.

Your Responsibilities
  • Developing measurement setups and verifying the experimental performance of the PIC devices
  • Statistical EO characterization of PIC components to develop PDK models

You will have the chance to perform a multidisciplinary work in an industrial environment, while participating in various projects and working within a motivated and experienced project-team.

Your profile

Know-how
  • PhD degree in Photonics/Physics/Electrical Engineering/Micro-technology or other related disciplines
  • Strong background in photonics,
  • Strong background in Python programming
  • Strong experience in optical lab as well as RF and photonics characterization (including fiber and free scape setups and input/outputs to chips, RF probe stations and etc.)
  • Experience in GUI interface with lab instruments in Python.

Interpersonal Skills
  • Ability to work autonomously, while willing to perform and develop within a team
  • Creative and innovative personality
  • Excellent oral/written communication skills in English (French is plus)
