R&D Software Engineer

You will:
  • Build software tools for vision system prototyping purposes such as sensor simulation, dataset management & handling, ML model deployment, and efficient computation on GPU clusters
  • Work closely with our interdisciplinary team, that includes computer vision, AI, and image sensor experts, to drive a new framework for prototyping of sensing solutions
  • Coordinate developments within a multi-cultural work environment that spans engineering sites from Japan, Europe, and North America across the Sony Group organization

You will bring:
  • MSc or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, Electrical Engineering… or surprise us with a background that we did not think of yet!
  • Experience (preferably industry experience) with modern software development methodologies and principles, such as CI/CD, containers, SOLID, etc.
  • Proficiency in multiple programming languages, including Python and C/C++
  • Confident communication skills and fluency in English

You can set yourself apart if you have:
  • Familiarity with MLOps and associated frameworks that include data handling, monitoring, visualization, and deployment
  • Experience in an R&D or startup environment in a relevant area such as sensor fusion, computer vision, machine learning, circuits, system design, or mathematical modeling
  • Basic knowledge of computer vision and/or image sensors

The position is within the Sony Advanced Visual Sensing (AVS) group which is an R&D center of Sony Semiconductor Solutions based in Zurich, Switzerland and a former spin-off of the University of Zurich and the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH Zurich). We develop novel computer vision algorithms, vision sensors and sensing systems based on our world-leading sensing expertise, including event-based cameras, CMOS cameras, and more. We’re a small, dynamic, and young team where everybody can talk to everybody and give inputs on any topic at any time. The team continues to actively shape itself and everybody can have a big influence not only on technical topics but also on our culture and the way we work.
