70! That’s the number of Scientists in the Novartis Institutes of Biomedical Research who are focused on developing the next generation of siRNA therapies with the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients to treat previously undruggable diseases.

We are seeking a highly motivated scientist with at least 3 years of experience in pre-clinical pharmaceutical development to join the Biotherapeutic Engineering and Gene Therapy (BEGT) group within NBC in Basel, Switzerland.

The BEGT group drives a diverse portfolio of modalities including therapeutic proteins, multi-specific antibodies, CAR-T, RNA therapeutics and AAV. Through innovative and rational modality design, the BEGT group works collaboratively with Disease area groups to broaden the use of biologics into therapeutic applications where conventional antibodies have limitations. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in evaluation of bio-conjugate therapeutics. Hands-on experience in cell culture, compound analytics and molecular biology techniques are a plus

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Support assays for quantification, construct validation and stability oligonucleotide conjugate constructs.
  • Perform gene expression and functional analysis by various methods.
  • Preform cellular internalisation and in vitro toxicity assays.
  • Provide technical reports and documentation accurately and on time.

Minimum Requirements

What you will bring to the role:
  • Hands on lab experience with cell culture, RNA isolation, real-time qRT-PCR, ELISA, western blot, immunohistochemistry and flow cytometry.
  • Expertise in the cellular and functional characterization of oligonucleotides and prior experience with shRNA and AAV technologies are a plus.
  • Capability of running experiments independently
  • Highly collaborative spirit in- and outside of department to advance programs to clinic, strong communication skills, creativity, and multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment
Desirable requirements:
  • MS degree in pharmaceutical sciences, biochemistry, molecular or cell biology, or a related field, or a BS degree, relevant laboratory experience.
