CONTEXT

Richemont has a strong ambition to transform its business model towards New Retail. The group is pursuing its strong development into the digitisation of its commerce value chain, relying for instance on the recent acquisition of YNAP, Watchfinder, and the strategic partnerships with Alibaba Group and Farfetch. In order to successfully deliver its ambition, Richemont is reinforcing its data and analytics capabilities. A Group Data Office has been created, led by the new appointment of a Chief Data and Analytics Officer, and an AI Centre of Excellence is being built. A critical role in the AI operating model is the Senior Data Scientist, fundamental member of AI feature teams, designer and builder of AI/ML models to resolve business problems.

HOW WILL YOU MAKE AN IMPACT?

• As key member of AI Use Case feature teams, you will be building AI products that optimise business impactby:
  • collaborating with AI Use Case Managers from first phase of use cases design,

  • designing the most suitable algorithmic solutions to solve business problems,

  • assessing risks in modelling techniques and underlying data usability,

  • developing and optimizing scalable AI/ML models in cloud platform environments,

  • working closely with engineers and architects in devising the AI solution architecture,

  • defining model measurement metrics and testing approaches,

  • troubleshooting performance across applicable phases of the use case lifecycle,

  • storytelling solutions and metrics to business stakeholders.

• As expert in Data Science, you will be developing best practices by
  • becoming knowledge expert in specific Data Science area(s) and/ or clusters of AI Use Cases, both by direct drive and continuous learning from outside trends,

  • developing and coaching internal talent, as well as learning from others,

  • presenting in sharing sessions, promoting best Data Science practices and methods,

  • contributing to wider Data Culture acceleration initiatives in the organisation.

  
  

HOW WILL YOU EXPERIENCE SUCESS WITH US?

• You have successful track record in developing algorithmic solutions driving value at scale; while humble, you drive personal pride in achieving impact, measuring it, explaining it.
• You have relevant education – e.g., Master’s Degree or PhD in Data Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Advanced Analytics or Computer Engineering – with 8-10 years of relevant experience; and all the continuous learning you have achieved keeping up with latest trends
• Beyond fundamentals, you have that sixth sense when tackling data science problems, the one that often comes after a wide diversity of innovation successes and failures.
• You know data is a team sport, and thrive in cross-functional teams in which your data science excellence is complemented with skills from other colleagues, from whom you love learning.
• You are comfortable working in agile methods, remotely, internationally, across cultures.
• You have experience in several industry environments, Retail being a strong plus.
• You have that favourite area of very high expertise that you will bring to the team.
• You excel at demystifying complexity, presenting results to business or coaching juniors.
• And of course these skills:
  • Self-starter; thriving in the ambiguity and probabilistic approach of AI Innovation
  • Proficient coding skills and standards, with particular excellence in major languages such as Python, Scala, R or a similar language
  • Demonstrated experience in cloud environments; GCP a plus.
  • Curious about business, possibly interested already by the exciting changes in luxury.
  • Willing to travel
  • Speak fluent English; French and Chinese are a plus

The Senior Data Scientist will be at the heart of value creation as master of design and build of scalable AI/ML models that solve a diversity of business problems. She/he will be working in harmony with the other members of AI feature teams and in close working collaboration with extended stakeholders from Maisons, Functions and Regions. She/he will report to the Head of Data Science, and collaborate with stakeholders from other data related disciplines. She/he will be strong contributor to the Group Data Community, in particular intensity on Data Science. She/he will be based at our HQ in Geneva, with some travel.
