To meet our obligations to shareholders and other stakeholders, we issue several flagship corporate documents each year - including our annual regulatory disclosures and our Novartis in Society Integrated Report - that provide key information about our business and our performance on environmental, social and governance (ESG) topics.

As the Senior Editor, Corporate Reporting, you will shape the Novartis corporate story through the annual reports and other channels to explain how the company is reimagining medicine to create value for patients, shareholders and society.

Your Responsibilities:
  • Play a key role in the Corporate Reporting team by crafting content for the Novartis in Society Integrated Report and Novartis Annual Report / Form 20-F.
  • Working with subject experts across the company, take responsibility for researching, writing and editing clear, accurate content for the annual reports. Drive the iterative process of planning, creating, reviewing and refining content for these documents, typically including detailed content planning and multiple review and revision rounds over a period of 6-9 months each year.
  • Ensure Novartis disclosures are aligned with external regulatory requirements and guidelines on ESG/sustainability reporting, as well as with the Novartis brand voice and house style guide.
  • Manage the creation of visual elements for the reports, including infographics and high-quality photography.
  • Provide editorial support for broader initiatives within the Communications function as needed.
  • Be an active and creative collaborator, working with subject experts and content experts from across Novartis divisions and functions. Help colleagues create high-quality content that supports business objectives and the company’s brand / reputation. Work occasionally with freelancers, providing guidance and editing.

Minimum Requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • University degree in journalism, communications or similar, science background desired.
  • 8+ years of experience of writing, editing and storytelling experience in a media or a corporate setting, with journalism experience preferred. First-class editorial skills and attention to detail required. Experience of writing about ESG topics and/or healthcare would be an advantage.
  • Adept at all aspects of storytelling: story conception, information gathering, writing, editing and using digital storytelling tools. Able to quickly assimilate complex information and synthesize it into simple, engaging language, often under deadline pressure, native English speaker
  • Experience of writing corporate annual / sustainability reports desired. Experience of managing photography projects would be a plus.
  • Experience working collaboratively in a multinational and multicultural organization, using diplomacy and persuasion effectively. Able to simultaneously apply perseverance toward achieving a desired outcome, with attention to detail and creativity. Comfortable working to deadlines.
